Riot should make it wider knowledge that 1 report= 9 reports

A lot of players seem to be unaware of the fact that one report on someone just flags the game for review and has the same effect as nine. I think Riot should make this more clear, as it would raise awareness of how the punishment system works and also probably cut down on harassment- many players who just want to make sure someone gets punished end up clogging up the chat with report calling. This would also make people less worried if they got reported by a premade or something.

I suggest an automated message for chat- it would detect words such as 'report' or 'x9' and hold the message back to show something like this:

"We have detected a call to report another player in this message. Please be advised that one report carries the same weight as nine reports, and that repeated report calling may be constituted as harassment. Press Enter again if you really want to send this message."

Riot could also add it to those pregame fact things, or just display it (maybe with a brief explanation of the report system) when the player unlocks PvP or something like that.

Thoughts?

Not to sound rude, but shouldn't this be obvious? Like you should realize Riot is smart enough to know how abusive this is, especially considering the fact that most services dont use stuff like this because of how obvious it is that it could be abused!

I don't know where people get the idea the mob reporting is a thing. Like, what company in their right mind would create a system that goes off quantity in such an angry competitive environment?

But I digress. I'm not sure it would make much of a difference. I've told people that 1 report equal 9 reports before. Most of them say I'm a liar essentially. People don't want to believe it.

I think this is a great idea. A system that can detect particular forms of communication and intercept them before they are sent could be put to use in any number of useful ways!

Scuffleboard, welcome to the forums, 1 report does not = 9. If just one person reports yes it goes to review, but if ALL 9 OTHER PLAYERS report, that when reviewed, is usually an "instant guilty", most people judging these things are "WOW he pissed off EVERYONE on BOTH teams?" Usually anything more then 3 reports in a single match is an 'instant guilty' verdict. Just one person being a lame troll makes those of us that review this stuff irritated at the reporter and Riot has made it bannable to falsely report.

so you're saying rioters watch hundreds of thousands of games because of reports? Every single one? I don't think so, i'm sure they have a bot scan the chat and movement queues in matches.

i have a feeling that you're wrong. the only people who dont know are the people that will never know. know why? because they're the players that dont care to know because they're the players that want to play and not worry about reason. they dont use the forums. they dont watch the videos. they dont read the lore. they just play because it's free and they like the characters/art/gameplay/or they're naturally good at the game. so i dont think anyone can make it more obvious to those people. for the most part players that call for all chat votes are just annoyed and venting their frustrations. it's not necessarily healthy, but calling someone out on something makes the issue known and to some that's a sort of validation of their own accusations. so we (and i say we as to signify the entire league community) for the most part already know that. we just do it for self validation. i could be wrong however.

You guys are so naive believing whatever you are being told without thinking any further. I don't get how a rioter posting a line of code proves anything about the system functionality. A rioter could easily post a fake code line to decieve the masses into thinking that the system doesnt take into account the number of reports. Assuming i was the lead designer i would be very happy to consider the number of the reports, given i had convinced the community for the opposite. This way the report count would be a realible feature for the NN to be trained.

Actually you don't get to be sure for anything in this game. You don't know if the loot system is pure luck or an AI driven algorithm trying to maximize the profit of the company, you don't even know how the matchmaking system works etc.

Just keep in mind that for a system to work as desired you might have to hide the truth and decieve the masses.

I can't prove anything of the above but you can't prove the opposite either. But the fact is that a company is trying to maximize its profit using both ethical and unethical means.

Throwing it into one of those loading screen messages couldn't hurt.

Can i get a link to riot stating that one report is exactly equal to nine in terms of actions taken?
