Not sure if this ban is fair?

I've deleted a lot of the original thread. I have come to realize that a punishment for this was definitely justified, you should never repeat anything inherently negative that someone else says. However, I'm a little concerned that the 14-day ban is a little excessive. I wasn't doing anything actually out of disrespect to anyone, and I have no prior bans that I can remember. Maybe the 2 weeks was deserved? Here's what I said:

Homophobia & asking for a report is a bad mix

Asking for reports are against summoner code and homophobia is automatic ban

System is automated so i mean if that's your chatlog i'd bring it to https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us and submit a ticket requesting further investigation

Hmmmm....

Depending on your behavioral history, riot support might be a leader to do something about it.

Submit a ticket to https://support.riotgames.com and have them review your punishment.

No guarantees on what would happen.

Never quote/type anything that is against zero-tolerance. Regardless of the situation. Even if it wasn't directed at anyone. Period. So yea, you earned that ban for saying something against Zero-Tolerance Policy.

I don't see why someone directing negative comments at me, while I respond only with basically "I am not a blank" means I earned the ban :( I'm not a negative player

Not saying you are, it's just how the policy works. No one, under any circumstances is permitted to use slurs that is against the zero-tolerance policy. Doesn't matter who or what they are, no one gets special privileges.

We all agreed to it before we downloaded this game.

I just checked, and you're right. It actually uses the phrasing "language deemed -" and then the descriptions of words you can't use. So regardless of context, according to rules I was definitely in the wrong here. The 14-day ban still seems like a lot though :(

May seems a lot to you, it does for every player who disregards or neglects the terms of use. Why it's best to always read the Terms of Use because a lot of them do ends with a penalty of some sort if you neglect them.

Repeating hate speech makes you just as bad as the person who was saying it to begin with. Say, for example, other players had muted this tristana. You repeated her toxicity and thus became nothing more than a mouthpiece for her toxicity and hateful speech. Imagine if Illaoi's tentacles were "toxicity" - if she can create a vessel, that vessel can spawn toxicity far away from Illaoi herself - even if nobody can even see Illaoi.

Now, that being said, there's no need to even ask for reports for them. Multiple reports do nothing and are basically thrown out. Having more reports does not increase the chance of a player being found in violation of the rules, and it does not increase the chance of punishment.

Okay thanks, I always thought there was a correlation between # of reports and who was actually looked into. I'll remember that for later. On the other hand, if she called me a name, and I repeated it only by saying "I'm not this" (Whatever this is) is that inherently spreading toxicity? Spreading the word, yes, but the actual meaning behind the word becomes significantly different doesn't it?

Kind of like a teacher asking a student why they're crying. "Tommy called me a bitch." "Oh, well I'm going to have to suspend both of you now, that language is inappropriate."

Just my thoughts. Also the 14-day ban was a little strict when I don't even recall ever being chat restricted?

The word itself has absolutely no place in League. The word itself (it and a few others) are so inherently hateful in nature that there's no benefit to saying them and there is an extremely large potential to cause harm or emotional distress to others just having to see the word.

Further, in your case, the teacher is the authority. If you report to Riot and say that word in a ticket/report comment, they won't ban you for saying it. You didn't report it to the teacher - you ran around the room telling everyone else "Tommy called me a bitch".

Ahhh you got me there. Well said. A punishment is justifiable, although was the 14-day ban necessary for a first offense that wasn't really meant in a derogatory manner?

Extreme toxicity such as hateful language that shouldn't need a warning it isn't appropriate for League gets an escalated punishment.

Basically, Riot is of the stance you should not have ever considered saying those words in any context, whatsoever, thus you shouldn't need a "slap on the wrist" or a warning.

Hm... that's very, uh... conservative of them. Especially for a game with a reasonably toxic fan base. Perhaps I'll just start reporting every player who ever says anything to those standards of hateful language. There's at least 3 a game. Anyways, have a good night I guess*[zombie-nunu-tears]*
