Dear item flamers
Dear item flamers, you, yes you who presume to be an expert on everyone else's builds and champions while generally displaying little skill on your own or even general knowledge about the game. Keep your thoughts to yourselves, or if you are truly curious... ask, rather than flame or harass because you ASSUME something is bad. I don't know how many times this season I've had people flaming my builds or other people's builds on a champ when the build is actually perfectly valid and/or even better than the STANDARD build for the champ based on the enemy team comp. I've played this game since season 2. I've theory crafted several meta itemizations, roles, and runes... before high elo players start playing it and then make some vid or post which leads to everyone in low elo spamming it w/o having a clue why it works. I main one champ for my primary role, but am capable of playing several others to at LEAST the same skill as the average player, so if I build differently on my champ... there is a GOOD reason for it. Just because you don't understand or it doesn't work out due to the ENTIRE ENEMY TEAM does not mean it is troll. So stop the flame, get educated, or keep quiet - towards me AND others just because we don't go standard build every game. There are plenty of times when standard build is actually horrible vs an enemy team or a lane opponent.
Below, I will attempt to give a short description for
builds that are non-standard and why one might use them. Because he is a very flexible champ that in the right hands is capable of winning matchups he shouldn't far past the point he should be able to even think about dueling said opponent if the user is capable.
- this is a dueling build for splitpushing - not a teamfight build. It is generally taken with grasp to maximize scaling, give you early sustain, and give more hp to scale up your items that scale off hp. http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=renektontoponly Renektontoponly is a very high elo renekton 1-trick who runs this quite often. He explained that this build can let him 1v1 most other champs other than perhaps a fiora in the LATE game. Now, this build is not great for teamfighting due to extremely high hp w/o any resistances and minimal lifesteal. So if your team let's your renekton get camped, get 3v1 4v1 or 5v1 collapsed on repeatedly because you don't ward up or pressure as 4 or as 1-3-1, then it's going to look like shit. It is not a problem with the build or the player; it is a problem with your TEAM and your team's macro play.
- this as an early game build generally used with pta renekton. It is again, primarily focused on 1v1 or on roaming and getting picks rather than full fledged battle-lines-drawn teamfights. It leaves you very squishy; however, it gives you potential in combo with your final 2 items to delete any squishy enemy with one full combo. It is great vs enemies you can snowball against in lane, against enemy team comps with 4+ squishy members, and if there is an opponent with strong damage and chase potential that you want to be able to chase or disengage from where slice-n-dice alone won't be enough due to their kit... like trynd. Often,
is a good addition in this build because all your armor pen and lethality makes your empowered w do about 20% of an enemy's max hp off the bork passive alone - not counting the damage from your w, or anything else you hit them with. It again adds to your chase and kite potential too. http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=romanium
- does not always mean splitpush, but can. It gives good damage vs a squishy you just want to pop before their higher dps can let them win a trade and vs high hp tanky enemies where the extra ad from some other lifesteal item won't make as big an impact compared to the %hp damage on bork. It is an item that is designed to give you splitpush priority and dueling while still being decent for teamfights. The point is to keep the ability to push in and 1v1 your opponent both for the sake of splitpushing and 1v1 kill potential, and to let you use that push to rotate and help teamfight while the enemy toplaner is stuck clearing the minion wave you shoved to his tower. If you don't play accordingly and you screw over your renekton's ability to splitpush by never grouping and pressuring, not warding, and not holding the enemy team accountable, he can't safely split. If you do, you will find you can win by just 4v4 waveclearing at tower and letting him 1v1 split, snag kills, grab towers, and rotate behind the 4 enemies sieging your tower to give you winning 5v4 fights. Or, if you are strong enough, you can also be sieging a tower yourselves; 4-1 splitpush.
is built for one or more of a couple possible reasons. First reason is not per-say to give killing power, but to make you have relevant damage mid/late in combo with your cleaver while making you very hard to burst out. The goal being to drain tank as much enemy burst and cc as possible without dying so that your teammates can carry the fight with their damage. But to do that, you need protection against burst (provided by the item and building tanky with your last 3 items) while still having relevant enough damage (death's dance and cleaver) to force enemy carries to not ignore you and go straight for your carries (something your stun alone will not do, nor will cleaver alone provide enough damage). It is good for burst-heavy opponents and opponents who cannot be punished for stacking hp and resistances.
after jungle item is apparently the worst option to pick from a mathematical standpoint, rather
was the best due to stacking effect with her w
is good if you cant get the void staff and
gives one of the largest powerspikes she can get for a second item, the communication you choose to have with your team is important because it lets them know what to expect and how they should play.
