I now remember why I didn't like ascension

Because just like every other single game mode that riot comes out with that are intended to be fun, (wow that was a lot) people tryhard the fuck out of them.

Now you may ask me 'Define tryhard, some people are just good or better then you does that make them tryhards?'

My answer is that tryhard does not only meaning trying really hard but having the attitude of a ranked game meaning they get mad and flame you when you make a mistake or do something stupid, they tell you that the game isn't about fun it's about winning and that you have to take every objective and stop chasing for kills.

Now you may say 'But all of these things are good idea'

This would be true, if it was a real game, but the point is that fun game modes are made to do stupid things and then laugh about it, that is supposed to be the attitude of it, try really stupid things that you don't think will work but have fun anyways.

Ascension has a ton of potential to be really fun and in fact when I played it on the pbe (you can't get into the pbe if you have gotten a chat restriction or ban of any sort) I had a blast, nobody flamed or anything and it was great we all chuckled and had a good time.

Now the lesson here is that next time you are in a fun game mode stop pretending it is a real game mode and relax your shoulders take a deep breath and say "Fuck it I'm going in 1v5"

It' a competitive game? You can't expect people to be fine with you throwing, no matter what mode you're in. Even the people that don't say anything out of respect still don't like it.

If you want to throw, go play a single player game.

The only "for fun" game mode is URF.

All the rest are real modes where you can be reported for griefing your team.

Uh, no. It was made to have fun, not to "do stupid things". If it was made just to do stupid things there wouldn't be any objectives.

Some people have fun going for the goal, and you can't tell them to not go for it in a gamemode that has a goal.

And in the case of Acsension, it was made with the hope that you would have fun doing the objectives and going for the goal.

Now the lesson here is that next time you are in a fun game mode stop pretending it is a real game mode

Stop acting like its not a "real" gamemode. Just because it is limited to a temporary cycle does not mean its not a "real" gamemode.

ARAM is also a "real" gamemode, and it is much closer to the "just screw around" environment than Ascension is.

winning = fun ascension is not meant to be a just have fun game mode because it is a legit map based on dominion with it's own strategy. there is no trolling/funny thing about ascension, while there are plenty in urf.

As long as RGMs have chests and key fragments, people are going to want to win.

OP seems a bit confused. I'm guessing this is your first time with ascension. (No, a short time playing it first on PBE doesn't count) For returning veterans, there is a strategy to the mode. Just like there was in Dominion, which is what Ascension bases itself off of. The very fact that the Perfect Ascension icon exists negates your theory as fallacy. Can people play however they like? Of course, but it is a legitimate game mode with actual meta and goals. People have every reason to expect others to abide by them.

Also as previously mentioned, all rotating modes are offering up chests and keys. People will choose winning over you and your friends wanting to screw around.

I totally agree, except that I hate every single "fun mode" because of this, not just Ascension.

I played with people on my friends list and we all died a shitload but had lots of fun. Mute people.
