is saying "EZ" toxic?

FOR JUSTICE·12/10/2017, 5:13:15 AM·7 votes·4,542 views

just came off a game where I said EZ after a boss ass play. problem is, I think an enemy got tilted because I said it (were ranting in all chat). I then remembered the times people said that to me and I died a little on the inside, and now I immediately regret my life choices >_<

but is it actually OK for me to say EZ or something along the lines of it, or should I generally not?

gg ez actually is punishable.

The old tribunal typically punished gg ez. So now Riot sticks with the guidelines of gg ez.

gg ez can be considered toxic.

It's a personal thing, I hate the term "GG EZ" Or even just EZ. Though I will admit it's not really toxic, just kind of annoying, and antagonizing.

if we finished a game of hockey and lined up in the middle of the ice to shake hands with the losing opponent and instead of saying good game and well played we said that was easy and acted cocky then we would be labeled as a team with no class and are completely unsportsmanlike and we would embarrass our home town/country

Yup, it's disrespectful and punishable. People laugh when I say I'll report them for it, but then I receive a pop-up from the Instant Feedback system saying the person has gotten what's coming to them.

its cocky and rude but no its really not toxic.

PeachyPosterior12/10/2017, 7:17:21 PM3 votes

Its unsportsmanlike like. Plain and simple. It provides no feedback for those that need to up their game, and it's insulting to those who were a fair or better match to you.

Is it worth reporting? No, but I do tell my teammates and enemies to be respectful if they say it during the match.

Personally, I have a rating scale for whether I report someone who throws out "ez."

I report if: The summoner is on the winning team (mine or theirs, I've even reported those on my friend list). This actually bothers me more when it was a hard-fought game and the fight has been going back and forth since the first minion was farmed. It's just massively disrespectful to a good opponent and an extreme demonstration of arrogance. The summoner is 200/0 and one shots a squishy. That's just dumb, of course it's EZ, now it's just rubbing it in the opponent's face.

I do not report if: The summoner is on the losing team. If that's the only thing they said anywhere close to negative, there's no reason to report. If they've been toxic for the whole game, that's not the reason I'm sending in the report. The summoner pulls off a spectacular play. Come on, everyone has that moment where they do something amazing that was very risky or was knowledge of the champion (as opposed to an insurmountable gold lead). I'll let them have it, most of the time they've earned it.

Generally, I agree, calling out "ez" in all chat is just poor sportsmanship; but I try to give the benefit of the doubt to those who are using it to be a bit light-hearted (at the end of a game or when they got massively outplayed) or to those who truly feel accomplished (see above description).

Just my thoughts.

no it isnt toxic.

Maybe you want to consult a dictionary

DemonCrow12/10/2017, 7:31:49 AM2 votes

I personally hate both GGEZ and EZ at the end of the game and yes it can be punishable. It shows how much you disrespect other players when they lose the game. GGWP is the best thing anyone can do. It shows better sportsmanship and maturity than being a cocky player. Unless if you're against bot games then its ok to do so.

Not really, but Leagues community gets very upset over minor things like that.

TheProfezzor12/11/2017, 12:28:48 AM2 votes

As someone who has been punished for flaming but have never said that I do think it's pretty rude. If I'm salty I might report for it.

It is a little weird when players who get carried do it.

Snowplosion12/10/2017, 8:36:09 AM2 votes

The general consensus is yes.

McBam12/31/2017, 4:20:08 AM1 votes

Just think: why would you say "ggez" unless it was either to gloat over a victory or to deliberately upset the other team? The first reason is unsportsmanlike and the second is toxic, both of which are included in the post-game offense list (and therefore violate The Summoner's Code).

However, in response to the original question, if you said it immediately after an exceptionally well pulled off play, as oppose to after winning, I would not personally consider that toxic. I would suggest saying something less antagonistic, though, such as "clean".

Douglas Funnie12/10/2017, 7:02:26 AM1 votes

I only report someone saying, "GG EZ" if the person got rekt the entire game with a 2/16/1 score, but actually won because the player's team carried him.

zlumpy12/10/2017, 7:21:21 AM1 votes

Only ironically imo. Like when someone fail flashes into a wall and dies horribly. Then they flash that mastery 7 emote.

kierg12/10/2017, 7:43:47 AM1 votes

If I win, I just say gg.

If I lose horribly. Like 50 to 5 kills at 5 minutes (obv exaggeration ) I like to say "ggez close".

I find it's the best way to avoid tilting myself with such a huge loss

Troll for Trump12/10/2017, 8:33:12 AM1 votes

It's not toxic, it's disrespectful.

Honestly, if anyone gets truly offended/triggered by it, they're too sensitive.

Because it's still unsportsmanlike and all, it's punishable, but you shouldn't get too worked up over it; at least not to the degree where you have to rant in all chat

LordPin3appl312/10/2017, 3:38:42 PM1 votes

If you report someone for saying anything alone the lines of "ez" or "ggez" you're way too easily offended. Can they punish it? Yes. Should you report it? No.
