Smurfs in Ranked

I just have to ask... why is it allowed? Why is someone with as high as plat or even higher allowed to smurf it up in ranked against Bronze players, who have much less experience and skill? It just seems like it completely defeats the attempts to match up players against opponents of similar skill.

I don't particularly mind it when it's normals and there's nothing to lose, but in ranked one side is trying to make their climb while the other doesn't really have to give a shit; the LP of their main account is untouched.

I'm probably sounding like one of "those guys" but I'm not trying to. I'm just legitimately curious. Riot puts so much effort and technology into accurate matchups for players of similar scale, but smurfs just render that all moot in ranked. So what's the reasoning behind allowing it? Legitimate curiosity right here.

Simple answer: Why not? If u reach your peak on main account, but u still wanna play ranked, why not make new account and try to reach same rank again ?

Because people invest money in smurf accounts -> more profit for Riot. Also it's about impossible stop people from it.

Plat players won't be in bronze unless they purchase an account in that elo. You cannot lose on purpose to keep yourself down there, so they should be out pretty quickly even if they do buy an account. :)

Funny thing; i got called a "smurf" 2 days ago in ranked while playing anivia mid. People are really overly QQ ing about smurfs in ranked. Fect is: smurfs dont even matter.

Problem is alot of these smurfs contribute to the toxicity levels of this game,

They are platinum Make a new account Play normals with NEW players Expect NEW players to play at the PLATINUM skill level of thier other account When NEW players fail to play at the Platinum level, player reports them for "trolling/feeding" or just spends the entire game flaming and degrading them for how much they suck and how they have to go drink a bleach/battery acid cocktail or something.

This then exposes the new player to toxicity and stresses them out, which then makes them make more needless mistakes...which then adds more fuel to the verbal fire. Its partially Both sides Players who flame would rather throw toxic fire than suggestions on how to Improve. BUT ALSO The players who are given the advice are stuck in a world of "I'm the best, I dont need advice" so they fire back with the "DONT TELL ME HOW TO PLAY!" BS and then report the flamer for "negative attitude/verbal abuse"...all for giving ADVICE intended to HELP. Because this game has fallen to the point where it just caters to spoiled narcissists who think too highly of themselves and dont like being told they arent perfect.
