Teammates Bully and Report My Bad Games

I spent the past 40 minutes being bullied and "coached" to certain item builds while they all lost bigly in lane. They then asked the enemy team to report me, and an enemy team player lied saying " I report you before you quit lol last year. I'd be happy to do it again."

This one game ruined my night. I have probably 6 reports from bullies. I keep trying to return to LoL since a long break since the Fall, but I just cannot. I cannot play my first game in a month and get 6 reports. I am so upset right now.

You never read my reports and actually punish people, but you're always quick to punish me (based on last year; I have not been punished in like 6 months, but I've also played maybe a total of 10 games in 6 months.)

When 5 people play bad and they want to point to 1 person and ask everyone in the server to report them for "trolling", now that's very very bad. My God, This game is full bad, bad people.

False reports don't hurt you so ignore them, and their threats are harassment so can be reported and punished so you can report it if you wish. Just mute people like that and get back to enjoying the game.

False reports can hurt you.

We've discussed this many times, but it goes like this:

  1. Most League players would be banned under the current low tolerance of the behavior system where words like retard can get you banned. I see stuff like "ez", "noob" and insults every game. This all breaks the behavior rules.

  2. Riot goes through your history to justify bans. Since in #1, everyone says stuff that can get you banned, it gives Riot a lot of stuff to work with and look at when justifying bans. We don't know how far Riot goes back through people's chat histories or if there are any rules in place.

  3. Riot is not clear on what negative attitude or verbal abuse means and most people don't know the difference and don't really care, but yet, every player can report someone for 3 categories. Riot also does not specify whether you were banned for negative or verbal when you get banned, as they just call it toxic behavior. This means that verbal and negative reports stack together. People don't know what each category means or don't care. Riot does not count categories separately, they stack them together.

  4. People are not regularly banned or punished for false reporting. Look around here. The last bans for false reports are from 2012-2013.

  5. False reports can get you banned. This is what happens. The reporter chooses multiple categories to report you, whether its legit or not. Once you hit the quota or final flagged game, you are immediately banned within minutes. If the report turns out to be a bogus report, Riot looks at your history and since everyone says stuff that could get them banned, they can easily find evidence proving that you engage in negative behavior and deserve to be banned. Riot also does not wipe false or wrong reports from the record, when a false report should be immediately discounted and removed, as should the punishment.

What should happen:

False report > Punishment reversed, report not counted and bogus reporter punished

What actually happens:

False report > Riot goes through your history for an unknown amount of games to justify your ban. If the report turns out to be bogus, it is not overturned due to "a history of toxic behavior"

If you didn't do anything wrong, you don't have to worry about any reports. Reports only trigger that game to be reviewed, and if you didn't do anything wrong, nothing will happen :)

It's so that people you mute can be unmuted in post-game chat in this game.

This is the only game I know of where mutes are temporary. Every other game when I mute someone, they stay muted.

Good news for you! To my knowledge, the number of reports in a game doesn't matter: to avoid situations like this overly punishing people, a game is flagged as one you're reported for if you get a single report. More reports don't weigh it any heavier against you!

So if you get one of these games it really can suck, and I'm sorry about that. But it's no worse than a single report, and the system is more than forgiving enough to handle a false positive from a few games here and there.
