Okay, so champion select opens and i call the "support" role. The group of 4 inform me that they are in a party and they would prefer if i don't play Bard but i will be honest, i said " I don't care what you prefer, i want to play Bard as a support". Long story short, the team of 4 would not stop harassing me this game, and it got so bad to the point where we are at the nexus, at the last few hits for a victory and the party of 4 (on my team) all vote yes to surrender and we lose the game. I pray that parties of no bigger than 2 will ever be allowed into ranked. When we got to the end game screen the enemy team was confused as fuck, and they asked why. The justification? Because "bard didn't build Sightstone"

This happened in normal games, so it didn't affect me greatly. But jesus christ that's ridiculous!

Wait, were you playing full AP bard 'support'?

So you come in and go 'I don't care what you say, I'm playing bard, and not even as support'?

I highly doubt this was as one sided as you claim.

They kindly ask you not to play a specific champ, you retort like a complete asshat plus ignore their request, then wonder why the 4 of them go on to berate you?

His reply was a bit short, but not toxic on it's own. Either way, it doesn't give them the right to harass someone. You can disagree with the Champ choice all you want, but still have to treat people with respect.

That being said, the OP should have at least bought a SS.

OP didn't treat his teammates with respect from the start with this:

Zero reason to expect he'd get any in return.

I admit that was not the most diplomatic way to start a conversaiton, but that doesn't justify their actions. If someone insults you that doesn't give you the right to slap them. That is basically what happend here. Two wrongs don't make a right and everyone involved deserves a report.

That basically means you deserve a report as well since you started the whole thing...

Two wrongs might not make a right but bare in minds they are people, if you ask someone politely and they reply rudely chances are you are not going to be polite anymore, in fact most cases you would be pissed and act extra rude just to get back. Is human nature.

I'm not the OP, if I were I would have said something like "Sorry, I really like Bard and have wanted to play him for a while." I've dealt with this exact scenario, as Bard is my best support and spammed the hell out of him when he came out.

Also, I did say that "Everyone involved deserves a report." Soooooooo, not sure what you were going for with that one.

That isn't human nature, that is actually a primal/animalistic reaction to being hurt. Human Nature is supposed to be better than that.

They asked me what support champion i play and i said Bard. They asked if i had thresh and Morgana and they said that they don't want me to play Bard for no specific reason. I still fail to understand how surrendering at the Nexus is justifiable lol.

This is like how people judge muslims on terrorist attacks.

There are groups in almost every game. People only think they are bad because you usually only know they are a group if they do something bad.

Builders, build. Haters, hate. Trolls, troll. People do that kind of thing on their own and while maybe the specific thing they did(surrender) required the group, they likely would have just trolled you if they were by themselves.

But really there is no reason to judge groups as a whole based on isolated incidents.

As a support main, I pretty much always get a SS. That said, you can afford to not get a SS in some situations. It's even less viable now with the stealth ward store removal, but it could definitely work with the right team comps and playstyles. Wards are best for when you are behind and need to avoid getting picked or to pick somebody out. Denying ward coverage is stronger when you are ahead. If you're stronger and they don't know where you are, it's too risky for them to go anywhere except as 5.

That said, for bard it's really odd to pass one up, especially in the current state of the game.

I'm pretty sure SS would be more useful than Rylei's Luden's and Sheen though. They had an Annie mod, they did not need magic damage.

I'm not saying it was a good decision in this case... Just in general it's not always needed.

Hi, support main here. While it is more than the support's job to place wards, the support inherently has a bigger role in the vision games. In the game he provided, there were no vision wards in his inventory, nor did he have the warding totem, instead going for sweeper, meaning that he most like placed no wards once he switched trinkets.

You could have very easily said "Bard is my best support and I'm not that great with any others, so it's probably in all of our best interest if I play Bard" or something along those lines instead of "I don't care, I do what I want."

Also to throw another point out there, supports build Sightstone. They just do. Was it worth surrendering over? Probably not, but still you should have built it to be honest.

The major reason why i like the big parties is because it forces you to work as a team. Reflecting upon my own gameplay i'm basically playing off my mechanics, i feel as though i am lacking that team dynamic that you can only get with playing with your friends. So by this new rank system it forces you to go out and get 4 other friends get in a skype call and communicate with them. I am sure games will get more challenging and it will be harder for one person to carry a game. I'm excited for this.

Anytime you solo queue nowadays, be prepared for harassment. It's the reason I don't play normals by myself anymore. I always play with at leas tone other person just to avoid the 4 man harassment if you don't do anything up to their standard. I'm scared to see how this will play out in ranked. It doesn't feel right and will create a negative experience for many people who prefer to play solo. Even 3 people that queue together can be a bit annoying sometimes.

Not all 4 man premade matches are bad. I play with 3 others myself and almost always it's a good experience as we just play for fun. But I generally have a far worse experience, on average, when I solo queue with 3 and 4 man premades. More often than not, a bad game, or even just small mistakes, will throw them all against you. I've had multiple people dc solely because I built TF on Jarvan instead of BC. Not a single negative word in the match until I finished that item and then they all instantly jumped on me and then 2 of them rage quit. All this without any provocation in any form from me. While somebody like that will likely find a reason to complain, I find people take it to the next level far more often when people feel that they have the power since they are the majority.

OP was wrong with his initial response and made things worse for himself. That was really stupid. At the same time, the 4 others that queued together had the power to mess with him without fear of any real retaliation.
