Doesn't 20 minutes feel like overkill? Why not a shorter 5-10 minutes and just have it so a player has to complete more games to get rid of it?
CONTEXT: My leaves are generally as a result of being forced off the computer by REAL LIFE OBLIGATIONS OR CHORES, not because of any rage-related reasons. Unfortunately, Riot policy is not to give any fucks about reasons, even if it was because someone had a stroke.
If you don't like the punishment, that's good. Punishments are supposed to be like that so as to get you thinking "Hey, maybe I should stop doing what I'm doing so I don't get punished anymore." If you don't like the punishment, you need to stop leaving games.
Also, Leaverbuster punishments already start out at a 5 minute wait for 5 games, then a 10 minute wait for 5 games, then a 20 minute wait for 5 games. if you are at the 20 minute punishment, then you have already gone through the 5 minute and 10 minute punishments, which means that you have left a large amount of games. Once you get to this point, you really only have yourself to blame because there's definitely something that you could be doing to prevent yourself from leaving games so often.
It's 20 minutes because that's about the amount of time you wasted for the 9 other people who had waited 10-15 minutes to get the game going only to have it ruined by your dc.

Damn it goes up to 20 minutes? I've never had one that long. You must leave consistently enough that it went up n up. I get a 5 minute wait every once n a while but never had 20.
You are correct, Riot doesn't give a care as to why you are not in the game. When you press PLAY you had better make dang sure you have at least an hour once it starts.
For example, right now I want to play a quick game but have an appointment in 30 minutes. Guess I should que, leave, then rage at the 20 minute ban from ques.
