what's riot's stance on trading accounts?

not buying or selling accounts, not boosting accounts. just giving your account to someone else

saw a post from some guy that quit league, gave out his username and password, and said anyone that wants it can have it.

is this bad? or against the rules in some way? i know buying accounts is illegal, but the only thing being traded is the account. i didn't pay him or give him anything in exchange and he hasn't asked for anything. it's free.

also, can my main get banned for using this account? i have full permission from the guy to use it, but i don't want to if it means im risking my main being permabanned. not worth it.

To begin with, I wouldn't touch an account that someone abandoned in that way with a 10-foot pole. Nothing good can come from that.

But, in a more general sense, I wouldn't accept someone else's account regardless of the circumstances because it's not your account. I can't emphasize enough that any sort of account transfer or sharing is against the ToS and can lead to all sorts of problems. Just don't. It's not worth it.

Account sharing is against the ToS under any circumstance.

best thing you can do is just:

1: don't even touch the account because Riot will see the IP when you log on. If they suspect that an account is in the hands of another person based on history, then they will very likely suspect you of account sharing/buying and that could potentially also affect your main account and any other account sharing that IP and be subject to being permanently suspended.

2: your friend can submit a ticket to riot saying that they wish to "freeze" the account so that it cannot be played on so that others do not try to steal or abuse it and then at some point in the future if your friend wants to try their hand at playing league again, then they can contact riot again saying that they wish to un-freeze the account and have it active again (hopefully by that time your friend will have matured and not be quite so racist as you mentioned them being.)

also if you know anyone else that plays league that lives around you, please tell them to not accept the account as they can get into trouble as well.
