Is duo boosting against the rules?

I was in a game earlier where there was a duo (Top and JG) and the JG straight up admitted that he was boosting his top laner... I assume they were both on their own accounts so is this against the rules and can this get you banned? I know that logging into someone else's account to boost them is against the rules, but what about this situation where both parties are on their own accounts?

It is considered the same as you duo with whoever on your friend list even if that's a smurf (because smurfing is also not against the rules). I don't know how RIto views people admitting they are boosting each other though. You can try submit a support ticket to find out (report that comment about boosting his duo and ask support if it's against the rules) and let us know. I supposed they could claim they were joking about that boosting comment and what they did were not against the rules.

It is not against the rules. Especially since people are jokingly saying to their friends "I'll boost you" or w/e when no money is involved.

My personal stance: if a player (or organization) is getting paid (with financial or materialistic means) for the purpose to gain LP for someone else, it's considered boosting.

Buy your buddy lunch and a drink for a few duo boost games? Boosted!!

Bf will duo boost gf for some steamy action at night? Boosted!!!

What even is boosting? Literally any time someone carries someone else to victory, or when two players from widely different ELOs duo, it could be called boosting, but Riot still allows people to do that, don't they? Riot doesn't seem to have a clear definition, or a clear punishment, for 'boosting'. When you let someone on your account to boost you, the rule you are breaking isn't "no boosting", it's "no account sharing". When you pay someone to boost you, any way, the broken rule is "don't make money off of OUR game".

Unless this person isn't telling the whole truth, they apparently got banned for elo boosting by duoing with a smurf:

If its being done for money, then yes, its against the rules. If its just someone playing with their friend, both on their own accs, then no, i can duo with whoever i want whenever i want.
