How to eliminate toxicity
I think toxicity in League of Legends would be a significantly smaller problem if they took a different approach to punishment. Here is an idea I came up with:
Don't ban people. All this does is make them even more angry, so when they create a new account, they end up being even more toxic. Furthermore, these people get matched with new players, and are much more likely to discourage new players, thus decreasing Riot's potential revenue.
Instead of banning accounts of toxic players, I believe they should be "flagged." If a player's account is flagged for toxicity, then they would only be matched with other toxic players. This may be beneficial in several ways. First, the toxic players are removed from the regular environment and unlikely to reappear, since they presumably only care about playing the game. Second, toxic players keep their accounts, so Riot will keep earning their almighty dollars in order to pay $$$$$$$$$ to executives. Third, a small number of toxic players may reform if they are constantly matched with 9 other toxic players. However, most probably will not, but it would be hilarious to watch. In my opinion, the most satisfying way to deal with someone who is throwing a temper tantrum is to make them even more mad. Just imagine a game of 10 people, where every single one is going 1/9 in lane, sitting in the fountain and flaming in all chat in all caps, int-feeding, etc. (I know every player going 1/9 is statistically impossible, I used a hyperbole for dramatic effect). And finally, toxic players are generally less skilled than their positive counterparts, and playing in an environment of only toxic people may have two possible effects: they realize they suck and start to improve, or they realize they suck and they stop being toxic.
I think this proposed solution would be a much more effective way to solve toxicity in League of Legends.
