is surrender voting punishable?

I Love to surrender.

I start surrender votes whether we are winning or losing. I do it most every game. sometimes I find myself trying to surrender but its only 8 mins into the game. it is not time yet.

I see no downside to it at all. only good things come from it. if we are losing we get out of a losing situation and gain lower mmr (which is the path to more fun games). if we are winning and surrender, we surprise and delight the other team who maybe were feeling sad. And we gain lower mmr - the path to more fun games.

I have sometimes been told I am getting reported for starting surrender votes but I cant find anything that would indicate that it is against the rules. many other players also like to surrender. I have seen surrender votes pass when we are about 3 seconds from finishing the nexus. other people are against it. I have failed many surrender votes when we are in an unwinnable game.

unless it is against some rule, I will keep trying to surrender forever. I love everything about it. it makes me laugh and smile every time a vote succeeds

That's super weird of you, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

The surrender vote is in-game functionality, so using it probably isn't something that's going to cause you to get punished. However, spamming it every few minutes will certainly piss people off, and those pissed-off people are going to report you. Those reports may get thrown out, but Riot does occasionally take a special interest in people that are CONSISTENTLY generating reports.

Remember that Support Nunu guy from a while back, made a big splash about getting a two-week ban for going smite Nunu support and then spending the entire game counter-jungling? I forget how that shook down (I think he got his ban overturned?), but an official Rioter pointed out that he was one of the most consistently reported people in the whole damn GAME at the moment of his punishment.

The letter of the law only goes so far. If it comes to light that you're a constant source of anger and distress for your teammates due to an unprecedented number of random surrender calls, you're going to attract the wrong kind of attention at some point.

No, it's not about thrashing lower-skilled players, it's about competing with equally-skilled players. That you think that is the goal is probably a pretty good indicator of you being a bad sport who's not actually out to play the game, but rather out to make other players' games miserable.

I don't have a smurf account, this is my main account. I went 22-7 because I started off on an early advantage (enemy bottom lane made a ton of missteps early on), and I absolutely ran with it since, as you likely saw, I was playing Vayne. It was a rare good game for me.

Don't make assumptions when you don't have all the information.

So, real quick; are you wanting to continue the discussion, or are you just badgering me over useless information that's really none of your business? Because, right now, it looks like the latter, and it also looks like you're trying to insult me, or at the very least implicate that I'm lying.

Because, again; we're talking about how the "entire goal of the game" is to be playing against people of similar skill level, not tanking losses to deliberately ruin the experience of lower-skilled players. If you want to derail from that conversation, I'm just not going to bother with you anymore.

haha he posted that most people don't want to beat up on less skilled plalyers while I know that most people do. a quick check on op.gg shows that yes in fact he is a smurf and hypocrite proving me right and himself wrong. nothing unusual here.

  1. You don't speak for the majority of players. Most people want a good game that challenges them and makes them feel like they earned victory when the game is over.

  2. Attacks on character don't work if you have a worse character than your target in the eyes of your audience. In the context of this thread, you have expressed the motive to actively manipulate your team into surrendering the game, and you enjoy ruining the experience of lower level players by crushing them. None of this reflects well on you. You only hurt yourself by attacking Umbral Regent's character.

And even if Umbral Regent somehow is lying or being a hypocrite, their argument holds merit regardless of who makes it.

You seem to enjoy the game for what you can do to your fellow players in it rather than for its intended purpose. What you are doing is unsportsmanlike, cruel, and utterly stupid. Learn to play the game as it was intended to be played, or get out. We don't need your kind here.

come on dude are you saying you would rather go 9-9 and slowly grind out a hard fought victory than to go 16-2 and carry your team to a win like a super-hero?

everyone wants to go 16-2 and be the hero of their team thrashing the weaker players. if you don't then you are the weirdo not me

Glory is only truly glory if it was a challenge to acquire. 16/2 is a lot less meaningful against bronze players than it is against platinum players. If you seriously just want the score and don't care about how bad your opponents are then go play bots, you can consistently rack up 16-2 scores without ruining weaker players' game experience.
