So, LoL makes a PSA where doublelift calls all NA teams trash.

But you can get banned in game for calling people trash too much.

I wonder where the toxicity comes from.

(While i find this funny, i think they are skewing the line between banter and "toxicity ogm reproterd git benned" to make PSA's where your biggest icon in the LCS is just calling all NA teams trash, you are continuing the lie that it is just banter and it is ok since you will STILL SUSPEND OR BAN people in game for calling people trash in game if done enough)

We're just going to focus on him saying "trash" and not him looking at his own jersey and saying, "wait, what?"

Or him shaking hands with members of TSM after the NA finals?

There's a difference talking to/about players you know well and consistently calling your teammates you just met garbo.

You're allowed to talk shit outside of a match. Hell, you can talk shit all you want to yourself or friends in a match as long as you are using voice chat and not doing it in game. Riot doesn't go after any streamers calling people boosted or bad or whatever on their streams to thousands of people. You're just not allowed to ruin other people's experience in game

I personally thought it was funny. You're trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. You conveniently left out the part where he picked up his own jersey too.

By the way LQ trashed TSM today.

It's a paradox - basically, it's ok as long as you're one of the very few distinguished people Riot allows to spew (technically correct) garbage. Other than those people, you can technically get banned for just saying "ez" (banter). I get it if you spam it a lot through the game, cause then youre trying to be disruptive, but if you say it after that sick outplay, it's basically the same as "calculated" or "damn I'm good". and butthurt sore losers spam report you for it and hope you get punished.

As for your callout (and doublelift's) I'd have to unfortunately agree. Remembering of course that DL is on an NA team, he's also talking about himself...so I see it more as "we're all shit, and we need to improve" than I see it as DL trying to be insulting towards every NA professional. But compared to even some of the EU teams, we're notably behind most of the time in worlds.

Considering NA is always called trash / bad, you might aswell consider it to be a slur xD

in case it hasn't been said yet, the whole idea of him being a total asshat towards others is just a persona he put on for show. He knows it, Riot knows it, other LCS players know it. Its all to gather views for the LCS. From what I understand, outside of the LCS he's actually a pretty decent and upstanding person
