Why ban when you can permanently chat restrict?

So I got toxic in another match today cause some Rengar started flaming me. I told him to stfu but he kept doing it so I flamed him back.

Why ban for 14 days when you can just permanently chat restrict? Riot just ban me from chatting. Really.

Chat restrictions serve two purposes:

  • to warn and reform players who are consistently unsportsmanlike (most chat restricted players never get another chat restriction)
  • to reduce the amount of harm an unsportsmanlike player can do in a given game.

The thing is: if a chat restricted player isn't reforming, then they're likely to keep using their limited chats for negativity and abuse which means they'll keep being reported anyway. Players who don't reform even while chat restricted, eventually end up permabanned. That is why you've got to focus on improving your own behaviour rather than relying on a partial shield like chat restrictions to prevent yourself from being banned. SOURCE

tl;dr Your behaviour is your responsibility, and if you can't take responsibility for your actions then you need to fix that. The point of having punishments before perma bans is to encourage reform, if you aren't reforming, then those temporary punishments aren't working for you.

Cz the last time Riot did perma-mutes, it promoted more AFKs & Intentional Feeding cases.

Banning a toxic member of the community gets them out of the game. While your option instead keeps the toxic tumor there and puts unnecesary disadvantage on the rest of the team because they now have a permanently muted toxic teammate in their team.

because few people chargeback and a few get another acc and re-buy stuff, permabanning people is profitable for riot

it is not very cool, indeed, but i can't find another explanation for the rampant permabans when they went from a very rare punishment to a trifle decision on their part

Because its not Riots job to prevent your toxic behaviour.

You got chat restricted, which is a warning that you have to change your ways. You chose to ignore those initial warnings, so now you are suspended, and make no mistake: This 14day suspension is your final warning, the next stop is the permaban.

In short, Riot is not obligated to shield others from your bad behavior...you are obligated to exhibit acceptable behaviour in the first place.

If you can't do that, there is no reason to let you play the game.

they already tried it, and 99% of flamers turned into intentional feeders. so riot decided its not worth perma chat restrict because flamers turn into worse offenders if they cant get the rage out verbally.

Whatever makes them money , your just a number to them

ThePikol12/6/2016, 9:05:43 AM3 votes

Because noone wants to play with people like you. If you get perma chat restrict and someone will piss you off, wont be able to flame him you will troll to "punish him". Riot done that before and that's exactly what happened

Why flame back when you can mute?

MariusfPresident12/6/2016, 8:32:51 AM2 votes

Because It shouldn't be on them but rather on you to maybe become a better person and overcome the flame and just use the small mute button or become very enlightened, idk

Agreed.

I have 3 accounts because it's easy to make accounts for free. I don't feed but I don't put up with crap.

You chat restrict me? You'd be doing everyone a favor. I wouldn't have to worry about chat anymore, people wouldn't get bothered by anything I say and Riot would have less reports to track. It's a win for 3 different parties.

Chat bans wont stop somebody who was intentionally feeding

Why flame when you can shut your mouth?
