I honestly feel like League is starting to decline.
There's no denying that for the past year, maybe 2, that Riot has started to make some very questionable choices. Riot undeniably likes to be very safe about bad situations and instead of tackling the problem, they like to work around it and somehow manages to tangle things up. Everyone has been in an uproar about Dynamic Queue, with pro players being matched with low elo players and all sorts of shenanigans. Gbay99 was also featured on a video of some sort for League and Riot basically said "nah dudes we know we promised ranked solo but yolo". It seems that Riot no longer listens to player feedback, and they continue to make mistakes after mistakes. Remember when the Juggernaut patch came out? All of them were broken as hell. I mean I have no idea why you would want Mordekaiser bot lane, but Riot decided to do that and after a couple of patches, he became from flat op to mediocre and it's hard to play him as a mage mid with very good success. Does anyone remember patch 4.20
with Devourer? Totally lived up to patch's number. I've also seen some stuff about Korea, where a large amount of the playerbase is using illegal software like scripts and whatnot, and Riot KR won't ban them. And what the hell was up with all that Draven stuff for April 1st? Was it that hard to bring back URF, like what they players asked for?
I know League is a hard game to balance and Riot can't satisfy everyone, but if a large amount of people disagree against what they are doing, then they should atleast take a 2nd look instead of just pumping out whatever it is they were working on and slap a "just try it out" label on it. Jeremy "Gaming Curios" stated that Riot is focusing more on making the game fun, rather then balancing it correctly, and unfortunately I have to agree.
League itself just kind of naturally breeds toxicity. When you're in a ranked game that can last anywhere up to 30-45 minutes, with a queuing system that allows people to queue up with whomever they want, the system becomes easily abusable and it's just not fun to play the game in general. A 30+ minute game without drop-in-drop out that revolves requires teamwork with random people in a complete crap shoot who, since this is the internet, are mostly likely either stupid, toxic, or some hellish combination of both (so much for removing RNG mechanics, Riot), and boiling down to:
20 minutes of farming and the rest of the game wandering around the map and fighting people you happen to come across, and receiving punishment up the ass by anonymous jerks most likely you've been assigned to call your "team," a development team that's constantly focusing on addressing minute complaints without even addressing the much larger, more serious ones, in a game that's so deep in mechanics, making itself so fucking hard to balance that I firmly believe will never, ever, EVER be balanced even if the game keeps getting updated for the next century.
I know it's unfair to talk about the flaws that a company makes without listing the things they do right, but besides from having the weekly rotating modes, I don't really look forward to playing League that whole much. If you were to ask me, I wouldn't recommend this game to any of my friends in the state that it is in.
And also, Overwatch. I know a lot of players don't like people comparing League with OW, but for the time that OW has been out, the devs have been doing a great job of balancing heroes and listening to community feedback, which is what exactly what Riot needs to start doing but they're NOT. Atleast not a very good job of it.
I'd love to hear your inputs on this.
