I think it has to do with the strength of your connection, but I could be wrong, since 70 ping (my normal) feels like 90-100 ping (my old normal, till they relocated the NA servers). That being said, I don't have any issues (including connection issues); The only thing is, I play on low settings so I don't lag because I play on a 2007 HP Vista.

ping is actually affected by a lot of different factors from connection speed to distance from the servers there are way too many variables to list without more detail.

If you have a very bad conection, higher data flow can drastically increase ping, because the relatively high amount of data blocks the connection.

When the enemy is in lane there is higher dataflow because thy need to be updated constsantly. However the values are so low to beginn with that you need a truly shoddy connection to be affected at all.

Are you using really long/old wires or a very strained wlan? If so try a more direct connection to the net.

if you have a direct connection and it is the net that feels strained, do a speedtest and contact your provider. Usually your contract should state a minimum requirement.
