Lord Dusteon2 votesKatarina's single target damage with 500 AP, fully channeled ult. 1325 (3.75 AP, 4.35 bonus AD), or 3200. With DFG, this changes to 3840 for an increase of 640 damage (+20% of enemy max hp). With Luden's, this changes to 3375 for an increase of 175 damage.
Assuming the Luden's proc hits 4 other targets it does UP TO 700 damage, meaning DFG outdamages Luden's if the target has above 300 max health.
So you know, Luden's doesn't actually help Kat murder a target for resets more than DFG did.

I'm going to bold the important parts.
For the first two, do you not realize that Luden's Echo IS AN ITEM? You don't start the game with the 120 AP 7% ms AP Stattik Shiv, you buy it, just like every other item.
For the second, you say burst AND THEN SEEM TO FORGET DEATHFIRE GRASP AMPLIFIED BURST MORE THAN LUDEN'S EVER WILL. If you are fed, Deathfire Grasp gave more damage. If you were bursting a low health champion, Deathfire Graps STILL gave more damage. At every point in the game with any AP Deathfire Grasp outdamages Luden's.
For the more AoE damage, you don't use a 100(+.15AP) lightning TO BURST PEOPLE DOWN. It does not have enough damage to amplify burst anywhere near as much as DFG ever did.
As a final, late bit to your original post. EVERY ITEM WITH AD OR AP IN THE GAME INCREASES DAMAGE. LITERALLY EVERY NOT FULLY HARDCORE TANK ITEM PROVIDES SOME WAY TO INCREASE DAMAGE.
