Can Riot PLEASE add an IP Adress ban?

This is something I always see, I see people on the boards talking about "I got permabanned on my first account, so I started again" or "Just keep making new accounts, Riot can't control what you say on their game" Seriously?!? Smurfs are already a challenge on early levels, let alone toxic smurfs. With an IP ban, if you get permabanned, you're done, no questions asked. You would have to either switch internet providers or play on a different internet connection. This way Riot isn't sweeping the problem under the rug, they would be RIDDING them of the community. I guarantee this would fix the problems of some toxic players. But it's just an idea

No. Because multiple people can play on the same IP address and it wouldn't be fair to ban them all because of one shit head.

I think this is why they really don't do that. Any of the internet gaming cafe's or gaming arcades that do stuff like tournaments and recreational gaming on their rigs would be screwed.

That and it's not too hard to change your IP if you really want to. Just comes down to how little life you have to continually bother when you could just move on to another game. Even just constant bans of a week over and over is enough for me but I don't even see that.

they dont for legal reasons. for example i live in the uk. ip banning me a service be a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I believe other game companies have already worked around that because they made the argument that you weren't paying a monthly subscription for the game and RP is technically not a transaction for service as much as a virtual item. Also, I'm betting the eula states you won't be refunded for the RP you spend ever so whenever you buy RP the sale is final. What you do with the RP afterwards is totally on you and if you're banned then you don't get to have the items you pay for in the same way that if I get evicted from an apartment where I installed a permanent fixture then I may not be able to take that permanent fixture with me when I leave.

I have this feeling it was Blizzard or SOE that got around that argument way back when. IP bans aren't legally adverse, they're just a bitch when people can rather readily change their IP address via proxies and such. "But that takes so much more effort than trolling is worth!" For the average decent human being, I'd say you're correct. However, I've learned to never underestimate the sorry state of a determined troll with nothing else to do with their life than be a piece of shit.

i forgot to mention 2 things. this is the reason riot goes "your account is banned for 400 years" instead of perm ban and also think about 2 people who play league but live at same address like brothers, sisters or a gaming cuopal or just friends coming round ect.
