Title. Elise and Nidalee are two of my favorite champions in the game (Sorry Jayce, I don't really play top lane :c). I was wondering if any of the champion designers had any plans to make another champion like them ever again?
Just in case I was being too vague, I mean a champion who has 6 actual abilities and an ult that swaps between.
I remember back when creating Gnar that Riot said they've consistently found transformation champs problematic because one form was almost always preferable to the other and there was very little interaction between the forms other than "use the ranged form first and then switch to the melee form". The 1st part was Nidalee's biggest problem as a champion pre-rework; her spear contained so much of her power budget that AP Nidalees would literally do nothing but chuck spears non-stop and occasionally heal an ally. Her cougar form was largely ignored because it was too difficult and dangerous to use outside of a 1v1 scenario. Her rework changed this and added a lot more choice to her kit. Jayce and Elise however still have the "stay ranged indefinitely until you land a combo and then go melee" problem they've always had. It's unlikely we'll see an unrestricted transforming champ ever again although I wouldn't be surprised if we had another transforming champion with restrictions like Gnar.
Yea I love Elise and Nid too. I would want another AP jungler like this. Actually, I would just want more AP assassin junglers, they're what I main.
Quinn used to be just like them, then she got reworked with the transformation removed.
I feel like riot forgets about these champs too much. Elise rarely gets skins or any kind of special mention, and I think this is primarly due to riot not wanting to make models or animate her models. She is a very complex champion development wise.
