So why did the Spellthives edge line get nerfed without giving them any buffs in return?

Because it's too good right now. Has literally all of everything an AP ranged support needs?

Where is the sustain on it? Care to explain why its so good?

Targons is picked in about 90% of the LCS game(+pls mini tournaments) and doesnt get nerfed.

So why is an item that is picked by 80% of the support champp nerfed?I probablly sound like a bronze player.

The problems is that there are nerfing an item wihtout shifting its power into something else(like Manareg,AP ,added damage on passive or even increased CD on FQC..

they nerfed FotM several times with no buffs to it so i fail to see your point? it lost 1% heal per charge for 50 hp flat (was 2% hp heal so eirly game buff late game nerf) and lost a charge on relic shield so when completed its actually a charge under what it use to be (use to be 3/4/5 now its 2/3/4), they increased the cooldown to get charges aswell not to mention the shield was tweaked from 20% of the supports max hp to 10% effectively HALFING the effective shield on the target... and you're bitching that FQC is getting a slight nerf while mentioning FotM "doesn't get nerfed"????

Well FOtM was OP ,while FQC really isnt.

FQC line is picked over TOA while it provides early game power, which can help in getting your adc fed.

imho it wasnt op just like you dont think FQC isnt op but Rito is still nerfing it :|

It was OP ,ADCs had even more sustain then a ADC with a Soraka support

Targno's is picked in "90% of LCS games" because Braum is pick/ban and Thresh synergizes very well with it. There are a total of FOUR champions who can use Targon's effectively as a support (as he can't use STE, and coin leaves him squishy in a 2v2 lane). Let's quickly go over some champs that can utilize spellthiefs:

Morgana, Karma, Zilean, Zyra, Annie, Sona, Lulu. (I'm sure there's more). That's almost twice as many champions. There are two champs that synergize with neither and have to build coin (Soraka, Janna). STE also gives THE MOST GOLD of ANY gold item if utilized well. Give it top tier utility, mana regen, AND GP/10, and you've got a damn good item.

Because it easily allows "supports" the ability to just build as a second carry.

PokladnicaZla1 votes

so if all roles can carry, why arent supports allowed to do it?

Besides if a support goes AP she is more squshy than a mage.

Thoroniul1 votes

This does not really answer the question. If supports are able to carry, it does not matter if they are squishy.

Glass cannon Mage supports do so well because they are able to force their opponents out of lane through sheer damage, and "kill secure". With them building support items and ap they don't need farm but still do significant damage.

A better way to put it is that its simply too efficient to run a traditional support. Why would I want a lets say Soraka support who can heal for 150 health every 18 seconds, verse a Morgana "support" who can deal 350 damage every 14 seconds.

The item pushes out supports.

Thats a terrible example.

You want Morgana because she has a whopping 5 seconds of stuns and you dont want Soraka because she's an overnerfed, shitty support.

Nerfing the poke item, if anything, pushes out the poke supports. Nothing else. A mage becomes a support not because of spellthief's edge, but because he turns out to be better at supporting than regular supports. Ex. Zyra and Annie becoming supports before spellthief was released

Zyra and Annie may have become supports before spellthief was introduced but adding in spellthief meant that had to make no sacrifices to be in that role.

If they became the best supports on their own, there was no sacrifice to begin with.
