Ribbons still exist?

Logged in today and got a pop up letting me know what a great leader I am. Neat. Closed it out and got a second pop up telling me I am one of the outstanding mentors of the community. Also nice. But I thought that this system was no longer in existence, that Riot had done away with it. And I am only level 12 and clearly there are far more deserving recipients than I. Especially when you are giving me 2 ribbons at the same time to wear. I just find it odd that Riot is continuing this system when it has been publicly labeled as "irrelevant."

Oh well. Guess I will wear them with pride.

It's based on % of honor per game. If you're low level with very few games, you probably get 1 or 2 a game which is about what it is for some ribbons. Usually people at higher levels, especially in ranked, press the report button to punish negative instead of honor to encourage positive.

Sounds about right. When you've been here long enough you expect good play. Nothing impresses people anymore so because of that they report when a player is not up to par with their standards. And when they get beaten by someone they report rather than respect the other player's superior skill and when they get carried they find that one player on the team who made one screw up that made the ride a slight bit bumpy at one point and they report that guy for whatever little thing they did wrong.

That's partly why I like smurfing so much. The player base down here is more docile, mild-mannered and enjoyable to be with. You gank their lane and kill their laner and they say thank you. Do that in higher ELO and you get flamed for not giving the kill gold to them instead of yourself.

Not necessarily. Typically when I do well people add me to duo or I've even gotten a couple mystery gifts from random people in solo queue, but honor is about as rare as the gifts, strange enough. It's partly how you act, when you bm or talk shit in all chat, no one is ever going to admit any skill on your part because you've established yourself as a dickhead. When I do something retarded like hook a minion right in front of me, I flash my champ mastery. When I do something good I crack jokes or say something besides talking shit. You'll get much better feedback being a goofball who's really good vs someone who's good and an asshole about it. I get flamed a lot more on my smurf tbh, I don't say anything in chat but get reported (and get warnings frequently) for verbal abuse and everything else because people report me for smurfing.

Oh, I certainly don't act like a jerk. I always put a positive/humorous spin on a situation. Even in all chat when I am chatting with the enemy its always in good fun. I have been honored and added by enemies in almost every game I have had in PvP thus far. I usually open up the first minute or two with a joke or if there is time on in the champion select lobby. My username makes it easy to break the ice. Still surprised that I got a ribbon this early or at all. I'm nice but I am not that great.
