In the few times I have been able to play irelia I always get people counter picking me with olaf, and each and every time I stomp the lane. Still confused as to why people think it is good, so I want to know what "counters" people play to your main and why it just doesnt work

Navarune2 votesPart of it may be that Olaf isn't as common of a pick in top, so your opponents may be picking a counter even though they can't play the champion. Olaf should still beat Irelia, but it would have be in equal skill matchups.
Potato Doc1 votesNo olaf shouldn't if the irelia knows what she is doing. Wait till lv 4 then engage, almost always come out on top. I guess enough people thought the faker olaf vs irelia match was a good enough proof?

I personally play Jax vs irelia it's almost impossible to lose to irelia as Jax.
What do you max first on irelia anyways? W? And any tips for fighting a renekton?

As for Irelia vs Jax it all depends on what you are expecting. If you go in thinking I am going to win this lane hard becuase my jungle will gank early and we get that kill then I max W. If you want to play safer and allowing you to out trade jax I max E in lane. It doesn't help with TP ganks, but the stun duration and the huge undodgeable damage allows you to control the lane much more then Jax ever will. But this is preference.
If you really want the best commentary on irelia play you should watch Irelia Carries U I don't play quite as much top lane as I used to, so when im unsure of a match up ill just start the video so I can listen to his commentary while playing which gives a lot of good insight

Meta Phyton1 votesdon't ask for that. you might not pair against them, but you're asking for somebody's achiles heel, and that's a real dick move. every champ has an achiles heel, let's just leave it at that. it's up to you to find it. it's there, you just have to use your head and think.
