What's so good about this Tank Akali thing again? Sure you have tons of health, but none of her abilities scales with HP, thus she'll deal highly less damage.

idk, but from what I've gleaned Akali's E has a 1 second cooldown at max rank. so she just puts down a slow field with her W and E's whoever is standing in front of her to death... or at least that's the idea. So stacking health and tankiness is just to help her survive while she spams E. Maybe players are playing Akali because they think she's broken, but they don't understand how to play tank Akali to begin with.
A quick look at Champion.GG shows that the most popular skill order on top lane Akali is to max Q first then E, but the highest win rate order is to max E then W. So maybe players are just picking her without doing the research on how to play properly.
