It's not WHAT you say, it's HOW YOU SAY IT

and how good you look Zac!

But seriously, I can't count how many times I've seen someone complaining that they were reported for just "telling our top laner to play safe" or "asking the jungler to gank" or "suggesting the support buy sightstone". But the people who say this are completely missing the point. You didn't get chat restricted for giving advice, you got restricted for being an ass about it.

There is a world of difference between saying: "Hey [support] we don't have vision on dragon, can you ward it?" and "IF YOU DONT WARD DRAGON, YOU'RE FUKCING WORTHLESS"

It's not just about what you say, it's how you say it.

It's totally fine to tell your top laner to play safe, but "stop feeding noob" is not good advice. After losing a teamfight saying "that was a bad fight" isn't toxic behavior, but "WELL, fuck all of you, you guys just threw the goddamn game!" is. Asking for a jungle gank is actually a GOOD thing, but if you don't get one and start spamming "GG trash jungle never ganks" then guess what? You're gonna get reported.

I'm sure most people understand this, but it's common enough to see people playing innocent about negative behavior, that I felt a blanket post was needed.

I always forgot how stupid 'average intelligence' is. There is a significant portion of the league community that thinks that if your teammate is doing poorly, it's not toxic to flame them since "it's the truth".

"It's totally fine to tell your top laner to play safe" No it isn't, l2toplane. Playing safe means giving up lane control and cs, letting the enemy laner push to your tower where you can either stay and get dived or back off and lose your tower when the enemy jungler comes. And if your jungler can't secure dragon 4v3 then you've just lost a tower for free. Playing "safe" in toplane isn't like playing safe in midlane. Especially if you're behind and can't get deep wards into the enemy jungle. You can get ganked from the lane brushes or dived from behind your tower if you let the lane just sit at your tower without jungle pressure. Unless your jungler knows that and is willing to give up dragon control to keep you safe then playing "safe" is just about the stupidest thing you can do in toplane.

Sure, if your botlane and midlane are powerspiking or just ahead in gold then you can secure dragon with a 1-man advantage, but usually the best you'll get is to clear their wards and set up your own, and that's not as good as a tower.
