chat restricted...again

so this is the third time I've been chat restricted. I deserved the first one and maybe the second one (questionable) but now i am receiving them simply because other players on my team get mad at me for not playing down and doing things in the game that they agree with. Now I'm in bronze (even though my mmr is a couple divisions higher than what I'm in) and i understand I'm playing with a bunch of idiots, but riot you have to find a way to monitor the chat restrictions instead of handing them out due to getting a certain number of reports.

I have friends that have also been chat restricted from games where they will say one or two things in chat all game long, and the person that reports them/me just spams and is toxic all game long and for some reason their report is actually acted upon?

This makes no sense. The chat restriction system that is in place is there to try and deter people from being toxic and punish them for doing so, its not a bad idea, but the way it is implemented is actually worse for the game for players that aren't actually toxic and don't actually bm and flame their teammates etc. It actually makes me not want to communicate with my teammates at all because if i even have a different opinion on a decision in game ill get reported and in turn chat restricted.

If i am vocal about my opinion in game i get reported and chat restricted. This needs to be fixed and monitored by someone so that people that are actually being reformed by the system aren't getting re-restricted because some 11 year old troll doesn't agree that we should do baron with 2 of our enemies alive, or that we should push mid instead of doing baron, etc.

Please fix it, and this isn't a request for me personally this is a request speaking on behalf of everyone that has been wrongly restricted due to the automated system and being reported off of trolls and 12 year olds that are too immature to just play the game without reporting the entire team for 1 player feeding (unintentionally)

If i am vocal about my opinion in game i get reported and chat restricted. This needs to be fixed and monitored by someone so that people that are actually being reformed by the system aren't getting re-restricted because some 11 year old troll doesn't agree that we should do baron with 2 of our enemies alive, or that we should push mid instead of doing baron, etc.

It's important to remember that opinions can be wrong. Or more accurately, they can be wrong in comparison. 'Not wrong' is not the same as 'right'. And your right to have an opinion is matched by everyone else's decision to either accept, reject, or criticize your opinion.

Furthermore, the quality of the opinion is dependent on the presentation and audience. If you think your opinion is being received by only 11-year olds who will report you for having an opinion, then why offer your opinion? You know it is getting rejected and you believe it is leading to your chat restrictions.

Before asking people to change the system you are a part of, think about what you are doing and what you can reasonably change to fit to the system.

Pings are magic. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY has ever been punished for not communicating with the team. Especially with the smart ping system, which makes it reasonably easy to get points across.

I have been changing to "fit the system". and in fact i and many other people have been reported for "refusing to communicate with team" which is a legitimate punishable offence. I am not saying this is all about me getting reported and me me me. Its about the system in general being flawed since people can report someone simply because they don't like them or the style of play and just file it under negative attitude or verbal abuse (since those are the two most popular random reports).

(reminded I'm just using myself as an example because i have the specifics of what happens but almost all my friends also receive similar warnings in similar situations). I kid you not yesterday i played a game and at the end of the game (in fact the last game of my chat restriction) i received a warning for "negative attitude". I DID NOT SAY A SINGLE THING IN CHAT ALL GAME LONG. I don't see how anyone can defend the system in place when you can receive a warning for something when you literally say nothing in chat all game long (and no i wasn't trying to surrender every 5 minutes or spamming pings, etc).

And on top of that since i have been chat restricted its near impossible for me to get back in good standing with the new system because of anyone that disagrees with the way i play reporting me and me getting restricted or banned every 3 days. (it also makes playing ranked nearly impossible especially in bronze with all the toxicity, since i cannot communicate freely with my team to express concerns or contribute to team decisions, or voice timers on buffs, drags, baron, etc, (without vision) or on summoner spells, etc.)

again i only use myself as an example because i have experienced it and know what has happened because of this system, and have had many of my friends report the same thing happening to them.

No player has ever been punished for "refusing to communicate with team." At least, no player has been punished for it since Lyte started at Riot.

And it's important to remember that reports do not automatically lead to punishments. There is a review step for every behavioral system, and all reports really do is trigger that review. Genuinely false reports (aka, reports against a player who is not toxic) almost never affect players. In fact, false reports hurt the reporter, as the "weight" of their reports is reduced as they make false reports. And if they're persistent about false reporting, they can even be banned.

Those warnings don't show up after the game that triggers them. Which means that you didn't receive the warning for that game where you didn't say anything at all.

In fact, those warnings require more than a single report to trigger - it takes a "spike" in reported games against you in a relatively short time to trigger them. Which means you didn't receive the warning for any individual game, but rather for repeated reports across multiple games.

And on top of that since i have been chat restricted its near impossible for me to get back in good standing with the new system because of anyone that disagrees with the way i play reporting me and me getting restricted or banned every 3 days. I have heard that it can be challenging to get back in good standing with the current system, but it's certainly not impossible. 70% of players who receive a chat restriction don't get a second set, after all.

The most likely way to get a restriction is by having a large spike in reports by people who don't normally abuse the report function. There are outliers, but in the end there is a small chance you got a restriction because of trolls.

Keep in mind that even trolls can legitimately report, too. Being racist and homophobic doesn't give other people free reign to abuse them; some people think they shouldn't get restricted if they are only toxic to "bad" players (Disclaimer: Not accusing you of anything. I am only putting this out there).

I don't know if thats true seeing as how i play with a large number of trolls and toxic players (being in bronze as i have previously stated) and i still have received 3 restrictions because of them for the most part.

Also note a lot of players see reporting as a type of retaliation against someone if they are reported or outplayed in game etc. So this also makes the system irrelevant and largely useless

Well lets see i was restricted and within 2 games (of which i didn't say much in the mindset i had limited messages) i was restricted again. Without being toxic, without involuntarily feeding, etc. So i don't see how that is explainable with a "review" being triggered with every report.

Not every report is reviewed. That would be silly, and a complete waste of resources.

Rather, the Report system builds cases after a certain threshold of reported games is reached, and the case as a whole is then reviewed.

so are you telling me that within a day they reviewed 2-8 reports on my friend over 2 games that he left (1 because he had family issues and the other because he was disconnected from the server) and put him in a low priority queue because of 2 games in 2 days? that seems excessive if its an actual person making the decision and also if its automated it needs to be adjusted to be a little more lenient when there are legitimate reason, because in the second game he actually got back in nearer the end.

Afks are handled by Leaverbuster, which automatically detects afks far more accurately than most players realize. It's an entirely separate system that doesn't really utilize reports much at all.

As for why he was put in an LPQ, I don't know. I don't have a lot of information about how rapidly Leaverbuster hits - though I do know it's significantly more strict with Ranked games and newer players.
