I wanna try ranked but...

I don't really know If i'm cut out for it yet.

I feel confident in my ability to play normals, and I can play every role decently except adc which lately I have been trying to learn. I don't know if I should just yolo it and try a ranked match or if I should wait it out and practice.

If I did try it though, I would probably just try to complete my provisionals and then stop for awhile.

Anyway, should I try or wait?

As was said, make sure you can cover 3 roles effectively with at least 4-5 champs each (target different kits when picking these champs, they may get 3/5 of them banned and you'll have to pick between two, one of which might have clear and easy counterplay while the other may not)

Play some normal draft picks, make sure you're aware of how often you may be forced to fill a role.

Don't play until you're GOOD with at least 3 roles. Ranked is draft pick and you will get stuck in 5th position occasionally. Within those 3 roles, have 3-4 champ options.

When you can win 5 games in a row with a champ, you are ready for ranked.

So I played 2/10 of the games of my provisionals. A question I have is does matchmaking match me with people around my ELO? Because I was midlaning against a Ziggs who claimed he had been playing ranked for awhile, whereas this was my first ever ranked game.

My second game, as far as i'm concerned I didn't do too bad all things considered. One thing that did annoy me is the Zac on our team was always pissed off at me for not ulting him (I was Shen). Most of these times I had clicked on him to ult, but he died before it could activate. Toxicity from him ensues

Needless to say, not a good first impression on me. I might just stick to normals and not worry about ranked at all ever.

I'm not entirely sure how ELO works for people who just started playing ranked but for the most part it should still match you with people of your level (and it definately will after a few games). Most people you play with should also be in their provisionals or just finished with them as well (That ziggs probably hasn't played ranked much since the season reset)

As for the ranked community, in my experience i've gotten just as many assholes in ranked as i got in normals. On the other hand, I've probably gotten more good people who want to try in ranked than normals and those games have been especially fun.

For the most part, you shouldn't worry too much about the people you'll meet in ranked. The main difference is that people will more persistently try to win than in normals (for both your team and the enemy team) so games will seem more intense.

This reassures me a bit. I might try again once the rest of my friends get to LvL 30 to cut down on people getting pissy because I missed a Shen ult. To be absolutely fair though there are times where I didn't ult him on purpose, because he was being that guy. I think I need to learn to be a better teammate before I can consider trying to climb the ELO ladder.

Personally I would wait. (Well personally I wouldn't play ranked at all but obv you want to :P)

There is no reason to rush, do some Draft, learn a few champs WELL. You don't want to jump into it too soon and stunt your ranked MMR.
