Why are people allowed to play champions for the first time in ranked?

I mean before they even try them out in customs/bots/normals. It's really annoying when you have a bunch of people who obviously don't have any idea what they're doing on their champion. I think there should be a system where you have to play X amount of games on a champion before you can play it in ranked.

So like, what will happen when some guy is forced onto a role that requires a champ/champ type he has never played?

That's just bitchgrinding. Kind of like bitchwork, but with grinding. It's really pointless and doesn't add a positive experience to the game. Might sound good on paper, but in practice all you'll get are people playing extremely half-assed in normals just so they can play their champion in the mode that they actually want to use it in, and that's not fair to people who play those normal games.

There's so many other reasons why this is a bad idea. I'm not going to list them all because it's not worth my time. On to another topic.

I first time champs in ranked all the time, and the majority of the time, it goes well.

League isn't really skill-intensive, anyone gold+ could probably first time at least 70% of the champions in the roster and do decently well. Most champions share mechanics anyways.
