Curious why people think Lee Sin is unfair/unfun to play against

Right now, I'm not seeing too much anti-Lee Sin posts (oddly nothing about Zac...), even though according to several sites he has a really high ban rate (not sure exact number, lowest I saw was 26%), high pickrate (saw he hit #1 on one site). Obviously this shows a lot of people like playing him and hate playing against him. His win rate was below 49%, going down to 46%, so I'd say he's probably in a decent spot, yet he's still banned.

Anyway, I'm curious as to why people hate playing against him so much. I personally have no problem facing one.

Disclaimer: I play a lot of Lee Sin myself.

You don't have any of what Riot likes to call "agency" against him. Lee will always be in control of the situation. If a Lee wants to get to you, he will, and there isn't anything you can do about it. He is limited only by the players ability to play him.

he outplays himself, it's not up to you

Because noobs think he doesn't have counterplay, and he really doesn't have any. Other than dodging his Q. Or dashing so his ult kicks you the wrong way. Or interrupting his insec attempts with any hard CC. Or picking literally any duelist and beating him 1v1 since Lee's dueling sucks unless he's fed. Or just not feeding him until mid game where you win automatically. Or make it to late game where you win automatically. Or picking an early game jungler like Kha or Nidalee and beating him at his own game.

I don't like playing against Lee Sin because of his super strong early game. Like other early-game champions, he has the ability to completely remove people from the game. It's the same reason why a lot of people dislike Pantheon top, Leblanc mid, Draven ADC, and Blitzcrank bot. The one difference is that Lee Sin tends to have a lot more map pressure than other strong early game champions due to him being a top tier jungler.

Because he forces you to change so much about how you're playing. I'll just quote a reply i made in another post, which should explain this pretty well...

{quoted}

Well people are going to have different opinions on this, but i personally consider it to be "a champion, who has more influence over how you play the game, than the champion that you selected."

So in the case of yasuo or fizz, often, it's less about what champion i pick, and how i play, and more about how much I'm willing to change how I'm playing my champion to address their champion. If I've got to change my build, fine. If I've got to hold an ability, fine. If I've got to change my tempo, fine. If I've got to change my aggression, fine.

But it's when champions start making you do more than 2 of these things, that they are no longer fun to play against. I might be able to beat a yasuo 90% of the time, but if I'm forced to play HIS game to do so, all because of the way the champion is designed, it's not fun.

Basically, when playing around the champion becomes more important than which champion I picked, the champion is no longer fun.

People are sick of seeing him every other game

A lot of the lee hate comes from Low gold and below where people dont know how to ward properly or keep track of the jungler. It means they push up and become free ganks for the lee. Then they go 0/5 in lane and instead of looking at their own play they just go "Lee Sin is OP"

Because if you have a lee on your team he's going 0/8 but if the enemy gets a lee he's going 32423534/0

He does assassin damage, hard to kill due to bruiser health and has millions of free flashes.

just tired of seeing him all the time. His the most popular jungler for years and he is always a solid pick. Just don't care to see him. Plus he has tools for everything. He is the perfect jungler that even a novice at him can do well, while a skilled Lee can perform even better.

it dont matter which champ it is... if the champ is popular or good for whatever reason there is hate...

it could be urgot and if he was strong as cait or popular like lee you would see countless threads about hate for the crabman as well

and people like to complain and bitch about things... so lee is your poster child for this

what i find odd is you bring up Zac in your OP but nothing bout nunu the #1 jungler

lol just saying

LONG LIVE THE YETI!!!

He has insane mobility, and doesn't sacrifice any damage for it.

People claim that he falls off, but not only is that debatable, it's irrelevant when games are short as fuck and Lee only makes them shorter.

Imo i dont really hate lee as a champ but I feel like he always has a solution to every situation so it gets annoying facing him. Also im against getting kicked by blind people.

Tobias Brackner7/7/2017, 8:49:04 AM1 votes

People don't like how much they need to learn to beat a good Lee.

LankPants7/7/2017, 9:18:35 AM1 votes

A large part of it is that he's in every single game. It's just annoying to know that if I don't ban the fuck there's a 90% chance he'll be on the other team. I'd get sick of any champ in that situation, let alone one who's been like that for 4-5 years.

SanKakU7/7/2017, 12:40:16 PM1 votes

His movement speed, sustain, jumping distance, damage, and displacement distance and disable duration are all way above average. He's great at just about everything.

SanKakU7/7/2017, 12:50:03 PM1 votes

Also if you can beat a Lee Sin and he knows it, he may just kick you into his allies to give them assist gold so they can snowball. So if you try to counter him, he'll just gank you. You're not safe anywhere. I think one of Lee's biggest issues is that he can just come gank top every so often and make such a smashing success out of it. He needs significantly less displacement range, significantly less disable time, and significantly less movement speed.
