Can someone explain to me why I have to beat Plats to get out of Gold 2?

I'm currently Gold 2 and when playing ranked I get matched up with almost entirely low plats as you can see in the picture. How is this fair to me?

I understand that my "MMR" might be higher than Gold 2, but after I won this match I only received 19LP. Shouldn't I be receiving 22+ LP if my MMR was higher than my rank? Makes no sense and makes ranked overall more annoying because it makes it harder to climb.

The two teams were pretty evenly matched though, considering there was also a gold player on the other team. I do agree that playing higher skilled players consistently is bad because it makes it harder for you to demonstrate your skill and carry.

because its the same exactly thing.

Your MMR is likely higher than your current rank, resulting in you being matched with players in higher tiers who have similar MMR.

As a result, you should be earning more LP per victory than your lose per defeat, which will gradually increase your LP and rank even at a 50% win rate.

It's like Highlander, there can be only one.

Because their MMR is garbage.

Dude, your team is pretty balanced.

Matchmaking isn't perfect, but there's four plats and one gold on both teams.

Shouldn't I be receiving 22+ LP if my MMR was higher than my rank?

Also got to consider that your teammates and the enemy teams' MMR might be lower than their rank. They have MMR too, not just you.
