Why Bronze has Poisoned me
When I first started ranked last year, I was placed in Silver V by the pre-matches. I thought this was odd as I lost quite a few of them. When the new season began, I had a lot of horrible matchups with dc-ing players and just plain toxic people (not saying some of my own playing had anything to do with it), and I got thrown into Bronze V. Ever since I have been thrown into this division, my attitude has suffered. Most of my games have either a dcing ally (or opponent or both in some cases), a toxic player, or someone who just gives up in the first 10 minutes because 1 enemy gets a few kills. 9 out of 10 games leave me completely stressed to the point where it's often better just to leave League of Legends for a while. I may have to end up quitting the game for health reasons. The last game I played, I was a Twitch. I told the players I wasn't a good adc, and I did exceptionally terrible this game. Afterwards, my support as well as the enemy team's verbally abused and berated me calling me a horrible player and that I was the worst player in the League. I snapped and cursed both of them out and reported them. I admit I should not have resorted to foul language, but still the amount of abuse from my OWN TEAMMATES was not something someone should have to face, especially in a game. I try my best not to harass people if they have a bad game, but ever since coming into Bronze my attitude has begun to slowly change. I've started snapping at people if they mess up a few times, when I used to reassure them and let them know they're doing fine. I would give confidence boosts trying to help our team be more positive, but now my attitude has changed for the worst. Because every other game I am forced to deal with the harassment of mean-spirited people, and it has admittedly rubbed off on me. Just like someone being bullied as a child or abused by their parents, I have become what I hated. If I hadn't already spent money on League, I would be quitting this game right now, if not earlier. That and a few of my friends play this game. Those are the only 2 reasons I have stayed. Yes, LoL is fun, but I could be playing other fun games minus the stress and anger induced by dealing with these horrible people. I can see why so many of my other friends don't play this game. I know for a fact this is the very reason one of my friends refuses to play. Toxicity spreads like a virus, affecting everyone in its path. The horrible part is the verbal abuse grows on me. I start telling myself their right. I'm a horrible player. I look at my W/L and it appears true. I have lost significantly more games than I have won. I know a lot of my games are from bad matches (dcs, toxic, feeding, etc), but it still eats at me. I'm still learning a few things, but I'm trying my best. Shouldn't that be enough? Why can't these people give helpful advice instead of just berating you for doing poorly? Anyways, thank you all for reading. Please leave comments on your thoughts in this matter.
