Riot Games automated report system
As many of you are aware there is an automated system that looks through and help with keeping the community a " Nice and friendly environment for all players" but what does it really do? This system goes through chat logs, games and reports all to declare whether you are fit for the crime but in all actuality this only sets players backwards, for ex. (chat bans, game suspension, low priority queue times and accounts being banned). Now for some of you this might seem nice and dandy to keep the players from verbally assaulting one another, but what people need to understand is that this is a 'online' video game. So what I mean simply put by that is that it should NOT be in any sort of way restricting players based upon their ONLINE play. What I mean by that is that the ESRB doesn't even do this, the rating system that all game developers, sellers and distributors have been using for almost 30 years now. With that said yes there are thins that should be watched online for cheating, hacking or any sort of things like that but just having the community itself being watched and being subjected to the robotic program is not fair. Let me explain a couple things to see my view on it.
First :
Players should know that by playing this game online that you WILL encounter the "salty" sailors of the online community and you WILL get yelled at in some occasions. That should be perfectly fine, if people are insulted or find that peoples words online in this game are so vulgar and so mean then just Riot should instate game modes where players just either A) Can't talk or B) Can only say certain key phrases as "Good luck" or "Nice job!" If they want to continue living in their little bubble. Now don't get me wrong I understand people can get out of hand but hey, let them. Who cares if they are raging, who cares if they are salty there is a perfectly fine MUTE button built into the game that allows you to personally stop them from bothering you. All you have to do is click it, it's very easy and much better than confronting them if you do not want to.
Second:
The online community is not rated by the ESRB for the reason of it being 'online' you will meet hundreds and thousands of different players from all over the world, it's a great thing about the online aspect of video games today. What people need to understand is that with these different people you get different personalities, different ways to cope, different ways to handle situations. Should a person be yelling at every single person on their team for something that is their fault? No, but we should not be reporting them and getting them banned for little things like that. There are many different ways to change a persons behavior just simply talk to them or if that won't work like I said mute them. Now again with the ESRB they have not rated online game ever, period. They understand that players are different and not one is gonna be the same so why punish them for just being themselves? Simply put, try to understand where someone is coming from, they could be having a bad day or maybe you just caught them at a bad time so instead of reporting them and getting them banned and making them even more mad at the game just simply talk to them, mute them, or ignore them.
And last of all:
The actual way of reporting someone is well....broken. The ways to report people are way too general there is no way to report people from trolling AKA not surrendering when you know you will lose. There have been so many times a duo team in my game wont surrender simply because they want to troll more. These options for reporting need to be more specific or there need to be more added. With the addition of more reporting options i'm sure they can find a way to make the system more fair and hinder to a more broad audience if they wish to improve upon it.
Now listen I understand that a lot of you really hate getting yelled at and having salty teammates but all that is doing for you is filtering out the people you don't wanna play with. There are so many more ways of getting around someone being salty than immediately reporting them after the game getting them punished and then they just get even more mad. Mute them, talk to them or ignore them do what you can to alleve of their stress and yours. So next time you go to report someone try to see it from their perspective.
