Update - Since many others have also said this, I'll add it to my post: I like the way the new face looks, but it could be a bit darker similar to the old one.
For a bit of context here - one of our awesome 3D artists (Maddy) took this on in her spare time! She saw the feedback regarding how Dragon Trainer Lulu didn't look so hot next to Dragon Trainer Tristana, so she updated the texture and did minor model tweeks!
Perhaps Maddy could look over Pix again? Although I agree she did an amazing job with making Lulu's face cuter, I strongly believe Pix could still use some work. He is as hideous as ever. Lulu and Pix are supposed to be those two great friends, having lots of fun, but that dragon looks bored out of his mind. Not to mention that gross thick lower lip. My suggestion is changing the eyes and lips texture.
I was fooling around trying to make Pix cuter by "borrowing" features from Tristana's dragon, and although I started by changing his skin color, I noticed the biggest impact was when I tinkered with his eyes and lips. So I went back to his base color and tried applying only those. I definitely find him less repulsing now. Perhaps it will inspire Maddy to rework Pix a bit more? The skin color of her face looks too cartoony. I liked the old skin color a bit better.
I don't really care about colour changes, but I would LOVE to see the quality brought to the level of Dragon Trainer Trist. I've been playing DT Lulu with my friend playing DT Trist, and the quality difference is awful.
Also, I've never liked how fat Pix is on this skin.
EDIT: let me clarify that I DO like the colour changes. I'd just rather see an updated recall or a change to Pix's dragon form.
I actually really dislike the changes made, this was a lulu skin I was going to buy yesterday until I saw this. Previously her color palette was very lovely, the gold pieces weren't a garish yellow like it is now but actually looked gold. Her hair looked much better as well, the plum color went so much nicer than that obnoxious hot pink.
But THAT FACE, I could have stomached the color changes but the eye changes really just ruined it for me. Instead of her delicate refined features now she has giant bug eyes?! She looked elegant before and I felt, worth the full price. But now I don't even want to pay for it on sale.
As someone who mains Lulu and loves Lulu so, so much, I dislike the DT Lulu change to (especially) her face and skin color. DT Lulu is my favorite skin out of all the other Lulu skins.
Her old pallet was soft and easy on the eye (it exceptionally looked fitting on Summoner's Rift), but the new pallet looks like each part of her stands out too much. Lulu's face with the new changes looks low quality... like a face with sharpie drawn eyebrows. The nose bridge of the new DT Lulu does not look as defined and it bothers me a lot! The pink skin is an absolute no-go for me. The old skin color showed her cute rosy cheeks and didn't make it look like she had to patter on a bunch of blush to make it happen. The new pink skin only features a darker hue of the pink on her cheeks or is completely non-existent.
The beige white parts of her old skin was lovely since it wasn't "white-white". The new skin changed that beige white to a smokey white and it just doesn't fit well with the new bright mantis-like green. The gold colors on her staff and helmet look like cheap imitations without the depth the old skin had. On the new skin, the coin accessory on the right side of her is silver which looks absolutely out of place because it's silver. DT Lulu has gold and brown parts, how is smokey white or silver compatible?
I do like the new DT Lulu's eyes, but would rather much prefer the older eyes. Pix looks quite off though... If Lulu loses the feature of visible eyelids, I believe Pix should as well.
In all, the old skin had a luxurious and slight eerie feel to it and I really hope this change gets reverted/doesn't go through. :(
I bought Dragon Trainer Lulu on release and I must say that the model updates are fantastic; I love all the extra details that have been added to her face, hat and dress, however I REALLY don't like some of the accompanying colour changes.
First of all, her hair is now too pink, now I have no problem wit making it a bit more vibrant but it's gone from red-brown to pink which is a little extreme for an existing skin change; I'd suggest toning back the brightness a little so it's slightly more subdued than it is right now but still more red-pink than the red-brown on live (At a second look she also seems to have lost too much of the shadowing on the underside of her hair which I think is why her suddenly looks so 2-dimensional now).
Secondly, I'm not really a fan of the colour changes to Pix. He looks much too pink now and his face looks too exaggerated (like he's wearing lots of makeup - I think it might just be the shadowing around the eyebrows and nose that need scaling back but I'm not certain)
The brightness on her rod and hat need dialling back a bit. While the details on her hat and face have been really accentuated by brightening the colours, the leather part now looks washed out and it's lost a lot of the witch-like quality it's always had (darken the whole hat but the leather more than anything else). The rod has the opposite problem where I feel the details have been lost by changing it to be a single colour rather than 2.
Her dress however is one of the biggest problems it's gone from being admittedly a fairly ugly colour combo of grey-green and grey-white to a very noisy combination of pastel green and blue-white. Once again the detail on the dress looks better than on live but the colour changes are making the whole skin look messy because there are so many bright white <-> bright green colour transitions in a very small space and I find my focus drawn too much to the dress instead of to more important parts like the face, hat and hair. Personally I think that both colours should be toned back a bit, the green more so than the white (since it contrasts pretty strongly with all the reds and pinks in the skin already).
Overall, I think the colour changes are too extreme and make the skin look very different to live (too cartoony) and this ruins the skin for me, in spite of the excellent improvements to the 3D model. With some colour tweaking I think this could be a fantastic improvement on the live version but I'm not sure I'd like it enough to buy it again as it stands (and it's one of my absolute favourite skins)
There are pieces of this I really love and a few things I wish could be tweaked more.
I love the changes in her face, the little bang, eye shape, nose etc, she looks absolutely adorable, but I prefer the complexion colour of the original a tad more. She is just a little bit too pink, either paling the colour out more of making the colour more of a peachy sort of tone would look better, I think.
I like the new textures of the hat more, but I like the more bronzey/rustic look of the golden bits in the original better- something about the original looks more realistic.
I love the hair colour change, even in earth tones I think Lulu's hair would still be super wild in colour, but I do hope in the future her hair in general in this skin is a tad bit reworked so the curls look a bit more natural/realistic. That is pretty much the only gripe I have ever really hard with the skin as far as Lulu goes. Her hair just tends to look like a bunch of giant cones.
The last thing, I prefer the darker green dress. I like that Lulu is super colourful with a big personality, but I think, as mentioned before, the wild hair suits that just fine, where as the darker green dress makes her look like a more serious dragon trainer, as serious as Lulu can be anyway. I do like the new texture in it a lot though, it looks a lot sharper and generally better and the more crisp white is really nice as it doesn't look dirty now. I just hope the green itself it toned down a tiny bit.
Finally Pix. His new horns look amazing! I don't mind that he's a clunky little baby dragon with a snaggletooth either, and while I don't expect him to get Riggle textures, I do wish he had a bit more contrast. Him being a purpley pink dragon is awesome, but because he had no detailed scales to him, the more or less monotonous colour of him makes him still look a bit like a plastic toy. The bit of detail on his back though looks super awesome, and if a tiny bit more of that could be included, even if the colour is fainter or somehow brought a bit more into his face so it was more dimensional I think he'd look so much better. That said though, he already does look better than before. Even if not for his back, maybe if his lower jaw/belly was a lighter/paleer colour with a slight pattern like the back of his head that would look pretty cool, kind of like most lizards.
I am very very pleased over all. I don't think DT Lulu will ever blow anyone out of the water as much as DT Trist just because of the price differences and how much work does into a legendary skin, but I am really glad someone is taking their time so it doesn't look like a 750 rp skin vs 1820 because let's face it DT Trist is just that good.
So thank you Maddy for taking the time, hopefully if nothing else you consider darkening her dress to the more earthy tone, you did a great job! :)
Nice. I like how they are brightening Lulu now, too. Her color scheme before was.. dark.
Although I find this change to be better overall......she still pales in comparison to the trist skin. I hope they change pix to look better and then I think it would be up there with trist.
I like the texture update, don't get me wrong (I even chose to buy this skin over Pool Party Lulu). I just don't feel like DT Lulu lives up to its 1350 price without at least a recall animation. If she could get that and maybe a better Pix update I would love it.
The change is an improvement, but the main problems with this skin are the lack of a cool recall animation and the fact the Pix Dragon looks kinda bad. Give us a cooler or cuter looking Pix for DT Lulu and a recall animation and we'll be good
I do like the new hat design (though think the coloring is just a bit too bright) and the flower being brightened was the right move. I still like the old makeup though, and the sharpness on the skin has diminished.
Judging by the picture, I actually prefer the old one. Given her lore, she's quite inclined to do a bit of mischief, and the darker, slightly shadowy undertones of her skin reflects that, imho. Her eyes are also quite dopey/dreamy looking, as is to be expected as she have spent quite a lot of time in a dream world.
The new one is just missing a "Pixar™" sign slapped on her. And her eyes is like "omg, i'm so high! whatwebedoing,whatwebedoing! weeeeee!!!" ....Yeah, easy on the drugs, honey. :/
Her new looks may be more in tone with the new SR, but I even prefer the old map (it had that "magicy fantasy feeling, with lots of flashing lights", and the new one's just a long yawn by comparison) - and I also play mostly ARAM, and she'd look sorely out of place on that map if that update goes through to final.
Oh well, I trust she'll at least get her mandatory recall animation now.
I bought DT Lulu at full price - from before the 1350 RP sales were introduced, to be honest, but I don't care about that. It was wurf! And I still maintain it's one of the best skins in the game (as a Lulu main, I may be slightly biased about that opinion...)...though if only it had a cute/cool recall animation. Something DT Tristana inspired would be great! :D
Now I consider spending the 945 RP on PP Lulu, just to find myself a new "default" Lulu skin, as, well, in the worst case scenario, DT Lulu is being ruined. And I don't like WW Lulu - did a hype swallow, and regretted it ever since.
I may be overly conservative here, but as I maintain in everything: if it ain't broken, why fix it?
I like the old one better, gives it a kind of noir makeup feel to the skin.
I was actually going to make a thread on this when I saw Dragon Trainer Tristana. I'm really glad that they did, the model looks a lot cleaner now. I also like how defined her eyes are, she looks so adorable. I'd really love if they did something like this to a her Wicked Skin. It always kind of annoyed me that her model's face didn't look, well, wicked.

I love the new tweaks! Are there any chances, she might get minor model or re textures on her other skins such as her classic/default skin, Wicked and Bittersweet Lulu?
