Why can't LCS pro teams just pick Darius to go against a Maokai, instead of having to go so much trouble as a Rumble to take him down? Darius does have the damage & dunks to do so easier than other top laners.
Because darius is garbage outside of 1v1 lanes versus melee.
Maokai seems to do poorly against champions with axes
Because LCS pros doesn't play at Silver III level.

Darius can be kited by carries fairly easily or just peeled off due to low mobility and his damage falls of the later the game goes and he he wants to do a lot of damage he will be killed very easily. Additionally he is awful in a lane swap and Moakai provides a lot more peel/utility in teamfights
"Oh look, enemy team picked Darius. Let's lane swap and make him go 0-123987."
Pretty much that's why.
