In this addition of Stop Account Bans!, we go zen, with the teachings of Buddha. Honesty, there are so many teachings that apply. in the effort of understanding I have chosen one in particular.

Banning someone won't fix the problem. That just spreads the anger around. If you are serious about reforming a player, love is the only way. Keep the quote in your head as you read the summoners code and it just becomes so much more obvious.
Think of banning as jail, they beleive that being away from the game and seeing the error in your ways will "reform you", much like how people reform in prison. They use the bans in this way. I had a thread about how to deal with toxic players that says to love them and this wont work, ragers will rage.
For every thread complaining about punishments there are three complaining about Riot doing "Nothing" about trolls... there's no win in this for Riot, they are just doing what they can.
It does work. Just had a game with a player who was rudely telling another to stop feeding (0/2 after 10 minutes as support), and I told him to please stop being mean, and he said "sorry, I meant just play safe".
