And yet, here you are retaliating against toxic players by banning them.

There are a lot of things I consider saying to people like you, but I hold my tongue because it would be against the rules. So here I sit, benefiting from self-control, not getting bans and continuing to enjoy the game and forum.

If you didn't get the moral of the story, it's have a little self-control and everyone is better off.

Quite frankly, account bans need to increase.

If you don't want to be punished for acting a fool, then I can only suggest to stop acting a fool. It is actually quite simple, but people want to have the freedom to troll and act a fool, and then act surprised when Riot says "No...just no".

Since you have gone your entire life without ever acting a fool, of course it is quite simple for you to just stop. I would encourage you to have empathy for us mere mortals. Science has proven humans physically struggle to think when they become angry.

In your case, I would suggest instead of Riot banning the "trolls and fools" that they be segregated.

I would actually prefer a system where they were just segregated, specifically the chat restricted portion of punished players. Reform is a novel goal, but its done at the players expense.

While i would need to see chat logs to see how severe you retaliated, retaliation in general is looked down upon! If someone is being toxic towards you or to other people. kindly tell them to stop and if they cannot mute and report. Needing to harass them just because they harass someone else (or you) does not make you better, nor does it help solve the situation. just make the both of you look like jerks!

Notice how I left the report part out? That is because you have successfully stopped the toxic language. The act of reporting is admitting you want to extend ill will towards another person.

Enforcing happens before the crime. Retaliating happens after the crime.

Enforcing the rules is a chat filter. Retaliating is reporting, banning, talking back.

Allow me to set up a scene. Let's say there is a teacher in a kindergarten, there are two children fighting (hitting eachother etc). Teacher splits them up and has 3 options:

Give a punishment to the child that started it.
Give a punishment to the child that retaliated.
Give both a punishment.

Probably both children get punished. Now does the child that retaliated say he/she shouldn't get punished because he/she feels the teacher is retaliating against him/her?

4th option: punish neither.

The first step is to calm both children down. Punishment will not do this.
The second step is to figure out why they are fighting. Punishment will not do this. The third step is to teach them how to appropriately handle the situation. Punishment will not do this.

As you can clearly see, punishment will not give you the desired behavior.

In your case, both children feel they should not get punished. Both children will feel the teacher is being unfair because the teacher showed no empathy. It is also very likely that each child will then blame each other for their punishment.

Edit: This reminds me of "The Dog Whisperer". When two dogs are fighting, the trainer does not scold or punish either dog. Instead, he disengages the fight and makes both dogs calm down. After both dogs have settled down he then attempts to teach them an appropriate way to act.

What happens in this game and defending yourself from being hit IRL are 2 DIFFERENT THINGS.

We actually have these things called "LAWS" that say it's ok to retaliate in self defense.

When a player fights back at a toxic player, it's called retaliation.

When a Rioter gives a warning/suspension to a toxic player, it's called discipline.
