Am I the only one who still loves this game?

So I have been playing league for about 4 years now, and the longer I have been with this game, I see more and more people hating league, not complaining about balance changes or minor issues, but just bashing Riot and every little move they make.

I looked up "Things I hate about League on youtube, and got tons of results. I then looked up "things I love about League" and got no results.

So I wanted to know, am I the only player who still loves and enjoys this game? Am I the only person who still looks forward to my game or two of league at the end of the day? Am I the only person who is grateful to riot and approves of their treatment of this game?

Just wondering.

I just hate some of the recent patches and game decisions, not to mention, there's a severe lack of communication between riot and the community

Those who like the game will not come on the boards and write about it. It's always the minority that rage upon everyone and everything that we hear and it's always easier to found things to hate something. Trust me. ^^

I love playing League of Legends. It's the only free to play game that I have played for so long. Yeah there is the ragers who complains about everything I do in game. Yeah there is the afkers on purpose and the feeders. But I like playing. I have fun. In my opinion, it's probably like 5% of the players of League of Legends who complains here and on YouTube like in everything.

P.S.: Sorry about mistakes in English.

I love the game but I've gone over the course of 4 years from a Riot fanboy (something they sorta deserved at the time) to someone who has little to no respect for Riot has a whole. I don't hate the individuals, but the company is, compared to what it was, disgustingly self-absorbed. Honestly, I know people are gonna say ''only those who complain come to the boards'' but I don't think that's exactly true. While, yes, you're more likely to come here to bring up something that you would like to see changed, IMO the boards community is the more passionate players. You don't consult medias relating to the game unless you care enough about it to wanna get involved OUTSIDE the game.

A lot of players don't give a single fuck about lore and would play this game even if Ashe was, in the lore, a professor of mathematics at a Wisconsin community college. But people on the board would lose their shit and for a good reason. And yet, Riot does not care about what those people who love the game so much that they are willing to step out of it and talk about it think. It's quite sad, honestly. Morde is just the latest example of that. The rework is almost universally hated by the boards community and IMO it is an abomination that needs to be reverted, but you know what? I understand that a REWORK is not something you simply erase. Fair enough, you've completely destroyed a champion a lot of people loved. Why does Riot feel the need to change his title, even though ONCE AGAIN this is received with massively negative feedback. And for what? So the people who just play the game and probably will never even notice Morde's title was changed don't get confused by a tidbit of the lore they will never read? You know a game's gone to shit when the people who are most interested in it are the ones most actively ignored by the creators of the game and everything around it.

I could also talk about skins, skin prices, events, the lore in general, the lore of specific champions, other reworks, balance, to illustrate my point. Some are more valid than others (ignoring your community lore-wise is inexcusable, balance should probably be handled by professionals, however), but the conclusion remains the same : Riot does not care.

So, no, you're not the only who still enjoys the game itself. I love playing League of Legends. I'll even let you in on a little secrets : I really don't know where all this talk of afks and ragers and trolls in every game is coming from, from my personal experience those players are exceedingly rare and I encounter one maybe once every 20-30 games AT WORST. I love playing ARAM, I love going mid on SR and playing whatever mage I feel like playing at the moment, I love supporting my team and setting them up for plays, I love being an AD carry that eats alive whatever wants to mess with me. But everything else is, IMO, slowly being ruined by greed, laziness, complacency, stupidity or the lack of efforts to understand what the more passionate players who do deserve to be heard think and feel.

Edit : Wow, this turned out way longer than I expected.

People who love the game are playing it, ragers take to the boards. And to say there are no things I love about league vids is just plain wrong. I take any kind of tutorial/compilation vid as a I love league vid and there are millions of those.

Been playing for 2 almost 3 years now still absolutely love the game. Personally I still hold Riot in very high regards despite the whole mordekaiser and juggernaut thing.

I'm going to get downvoted to oblivion aren't I?

i used to love this game, but then i wanted the victorious skin, i haven't since.

Although I still do enjoy this game (obviously, else I wouldn't be playing it), I definitely don't like it as much as I used to when I first started playing. The terrible community, the juggernaut class and the fact that CertainlyT still is allowed to touch champion kits are 3 of the reasons why. But as long as Ahri exists and her kit doesn't get heavily reworked, I'll keep playing I guess.

Personally i get my enjoyment for the game. I dont play it as much as i use to, mainly because of School and Work, but when i do play it (especially with friends) its really fun and enjoyable.

With people hating this game while some have valid points, what i see it usually come down to is the fact that this is the only (or one of say a handful) of games they play. If you only play one game all the time, its going to get stale and repetitive, and youll get bored of it really easy. I tried to limit myself when i first started playing this game because i didnt want to get burn out, because i knew i would like this game and want to continue to play it. What i usually try to tell people when they say they dislike this game now is to just take a Break. maybe a couple weeks, a month or two, or if needed even a Year break to either try new games, or do something else. League isnt going anywhere so it will be here if you take a break.

We, as people, focus on the negative because of how human nature works. We are trained by primal instinct to watch out for bad things and get used to normality. If something changes, we flip out not because of what they changed, but rather because something was changed.

We focus on the negative things because theyre so much more obvious than the ladder.

BlunterMonk10/16/2015, 9:07:53 PM1 votes

Course not.

League is more of an addiction to me, I would go an entire 12 hours playing, even if I get straight losses of complete and utter defeat.

But what you mentioned isn't a problem with LoL, it's a problem with society and human nature. No one cares to remember the good things in life and just focus on the negative. No matter if it's the news, media, celebrities, entertainment, or what have you. It's kind of sad but it's simply true.

All the people on the Boards that bash on Riot for the bad things they do are the same people that spend the most time playing the game.

You're not the only one who loves the game. It's just the vocal minority happen to use these boards more than we do.

NegaDKR10/17/2015, 7:04:10 AM1 votes

As many people have said already, the whiners come to the boards, the people who still like the game just play. League isn't the only community like this though, go to any forum talking about Smogon (The unofficial balance system for Pokemon) that isn't on the site itself, and you'll find nothing but hatred about it, even though it's the only thing that tries to balance a otherwise unbalanced game.

Im with you bb. I hate some things riot does or doesnt do, but they are still doing a great job with this game. The people who attack riots every move are probably just mad they cant climb the ladder.
