Why do people believe that vaccines cause Autism?

Not a thread to bash those people. I just want to understand why the think this. So, if anyone here believes it, please express you thoughts. Same goes for any of the other things that people think cause it, like GMOs or antibiotics.

Autism predates vaccines... People believe the future caused health issues in the past... Half Life 3 confirmed.

Not entirely. Anti vaxxers say that there has been a rise in Autism with the rise in vaccines and other things like GMOs.

And I really don't get the whole half life 3 confirmed troll post everyone uses :/
