Better nerf Sona

janna does 7 damage with all her abilites combined.

sona 1 shots squishes late game with q autoattack combo.

Deal with it.

Thresh is not nearly as strong as he ones was

Janna will recieve a hugh nerf next patch (her Q width will be reduced with 30...)

Leona was always been strong if the meta is in her favor. It don't think riot plans any changes for her ever.

Morgana will be reworked in 2100 until than, deal with it I guess. The meta isn't in her favor right now.

Braum is not nearly as strong as he ones was.

So this is what I think will happen:

  • Janna nerfs will move aggressive supports Blitzcrank (probaly back to god tier), Thresh, Braum. But the most noticable change will be Leona that dominate solo Q
  • Morgana will move back up because she will again become the only solution against those aggressive supports.
  • Nami will move up & replace Sona
  • Some kind of damage support will rise to compensate for Sona

I believe the god tier list will look to something like this: Leona Morgana Blitzcrank (remember this patch??)

No offense to you Sona mains, but the nerfs aren't entirely unjustified. Sona is currently sitting at a little over 53% win rate, and since her rework has consistently been around that winrate. Then you'd argue "well, why nerf a champion that isn't even that popular?". First off, a champion's particular popularity isn't (and shouldn't be) the basis for why they are buffed or nerfed. Secondly, while Sona isn't the most popular of supports she also isn't the least popular either. She currently sits close to 10% popularity among supports; so not as popular as Thresh, Janna, or Leona but more popular than Braum and Morgana. Sona has good damage and good utility, which is really strong combo and can easily lead to imbalance. But then you could say, "Well, you shouldn't nerf or buff entirely based on win-rates alone" and you are right but it is an important factor to take into consideration. Plus, you have to take in mind that (whether you like it or not) some of the balance changes are based upon the opinions of the balance team (although at least their opinions aren't uninformed cause they get to see all relevant data); while Sona isn't the most popular supports, she is one of the more successful as such they probably believe her to be sleeper OP. Also, no offense again, but as a non-Sona main regardless of my feelings towards who and how Riot buffs or nerfs champions its hard to feel sympathy to Sona mains when literally every other thread on the boards is a post complaining about the nerfs. Most of these threads have not really had that great of record of including well written and thought out defense of Sona against said nerfs and instead have appeared to be little more than cireclejerks (for lack of a better term). I realize this is probably gonna get downvoted but hopefully some of you take something away from this and at least can somewhat see the reasoning behind why Sona is getting nerfs.

indeed nerf sona! because uhm... I cant think of a single reason why sona would get nerfed over all the other commonly played supports like thresh leona braum...

As for me, I would rather play support and end the game with top damage... Zyra

Honestly, I think that Janna and Leona are fine. They have counters (Morgana and all poke supports [Sona] for Janna, disengage and heavy poke supports [Morgana, Janna] for Leona). Morg is supposedly countered by heavy poke supports [Zyra] but I'm not all that sure. Thresh is bullshit. Braum is unkillable (maybe Zyra/Leona can kill him? idk).

What I would have done to supports:

  • minor nerfs to Morgana and Braum (base HP, MS etc)
  • minor buffs to Taric, Lulu, Karma, and other underplayed or underpowered supports
  • delete nerf Thresh
Magma Lux Mid1/6/2015, 5:25:24 PM1 votes

Braum is easy, just have to keep harassing him in lane so he can't stay in lane. Morg is weak to poke lanes if you avoid her skillshots, same with Janna. Leona you either have to poke down or lock down her AD if she tries to go in.

Thresh is just good all around.

You also forgot to mention Soraka.

As long as people leave my support Lux to me I'm fine.

Patch Notes 4.22: We felt that Lux was just too dominate in the support role, so we're putting her back in line with the other caster supports, like Sona

Lucent Singularity: Slows enemies caught in the field for 20/24/28/32/36% 15% and then for 2.5 .2 seconds out of it Enemies damaged by Lucent Singularity are slowed by 20~~/24/28/32/36~~% for .25 .2 seconds

Prismatic Barrier: Shields allies for 80/105/130/155/180 (+35% of AP) for 3 seconds, shield refreshes and reapplies when hit with Prismatic Barrier again

Final Spark: Triggers and applies Illumination

...Crap...
