Merch Store Question about the sizes

What is the point of uni-sex if there is already a females option? I bought a large and it is way too tight. Now I know I got a gut but I have plenty of normal t-shirts that are large and look perfectly normal on me. I can only assume the issue comes from the clothes being uni-sex. Which brings up the question. Why?
