Is Swain any good?

So I came back to LoL after a long break, and started in bots just to warm up. First thing I noticed is how much Swain has changed. I use to like him cause his ult was a lot of fun, but now I feel like his best feature is just trash. Like I'm against bots, and I'm NOT having fun.

It cannot attack the same target for one second? His spells have quite the long CD, 1 second is quite a long time in this game. And on top of that his ult now has a 20 second CD? Again, I haven't played in a while. So maybe I'm just "stuck in the past", but to me his ult was the funniest thing about him. Now it's not, it's boring. Just running along the enemy waiting for one second so a raven can flock onto him while my other spells are on CD.

You'd be amazed how scary a good Swain can be.. Just saying.

Some Swains are crap at managing Mana but a good Swain will always be able to keep control of it. (I'm a Swain Main)

He's not bad at all.. o.o He's that champion I have the most confidence on every single time I play the game.

Amazing team fight.
Snowballer.
High reward champion for mastering.

I find him fun, so hopefully you don't give up on this monster.

it's not any different than it was before, when it had a 1 second time between birds. it's actually better, because it ticks every .2 seconds or some shit, so fighting in giant minions waves is buffed, and he can hit 5 people instead of 3, so he's better in teamfights too. it's completely reasonable for a 1 second lockout when his ult ticks 5x faster

his CDs are buffed, too.

What are you building??? Swain is great. Just save his R more. Q is sooo much better. item 3027 item 3065 item 3157 item 3089 item 3135 item 3020 typically do it for me and you can literally build this every game

His ult is a ton better since it A) Deals more damage per bird B) hits 5 targets instead of 3 C) Heal separate from damage and D) base 5 mana cost per second increase instead of 5/6/7. The extra cooldown does kinda suck but it makes up for the inherent power that it has now. Stick with him and eventually you will get used to him, learn his Q and W placements, along with timing your E all go to really help you, but be warned of the upcoming PBE item. It might really put you out of the mood to play Swain at all

Well - the reworked Swain is definitely weaker than the old one in terms of carry potenzial. He doesn't snowball as hard and deals overall less/less reliable single target dmg. In exchange we got waveclear and therefore a save laningphase making you more reliable in mid-lategame.

On the other hand... we have item 3027 and friends and those are OP.

Swains Teamfighting is scary - just make sure you have someone in your team that can either CC or burst the Carrys because you usually wont be able to kill them before they've done their job. YOU are the one the kills the rest of the team!

I still prefer the old one - but new Swain can be fun as well, you just have get rid of the old "I'm 6, I'm god for the next 10 minutes!" attidude and focus on giving you team a lead to make sure they can force Teamfights you will win.

As a small Edit:

I'd like to add that Swian main Lane shifted a little. He's now a Top/Mid Champ instead of a Mid/Top one. While the things I mentioned really affected his Range VS Range matchups in Mid, he can turn Melees life into HELL (even more than before)! (But to do so I already have Nunu, which is why I play Swain Mid-only)
