Kennen is easier to play but has a more predictable playstyle (but this does not mean much for soloQ). In general, kennen is better for soloQ because he is just easier to pull off than a rumble and he has better lane match ups as well as better TP flanks.

Miss the rumble ult? You probably just lost your team the fight. I would know I play both of these champions alot and although I am good at both, kennen is just better for soloQ.

Kennen is F2P right now so you should try him out a bit to see if you like him at least before deciding.

i tried him out and he's fun but so was rumble and now i'm just looking for advice on strengths and who's better

They both cover a similar niche in teamfights, but Rumble has more damage and Kennen more cc.

If you're the fearless always push type, go with Rumble. If you like to change plans midway, go with Kennen.

Rumble is also melee, so there's that... If you get pushed out of lane or zoned as Rumble you're going to have a bad day, whereas Kennen can usually still farm with Q (Rumble can with harpoons but he's also less mobile than Kennen).

Also: how did you find casting Rumble ult to be?
