Ekko - The New Diana?!

Ok so Ekko has been out for a long time, but I had yet to try him out until he was on the free rotation. I main Diana, and I realized Ekko is basically a buffed version of Diana (aside from Ekko's ult). I mean, I'm not mad or anything, but I just wanted to point this out.

Passives: Both passives are practically the same, on the third strike, do extra magic damage. It's just that Ekko does more magic damage (if he's fed because even if Diana's fed her passive doesn't do as much) and Ekko has to target the same enemy.

Q : Diana and Ekkos Q are the most differentiating of these two champs than all other abilities. They both shoot something (in Diana's case the crescent is the something shot) and it does a lot of damage. Now they have a lot of differences, so if I just took a look at both champs Q only, they dont seem similar. Ekko does the damage 2 times and slows enemy champs, so basically a buffed version of Diana's Q.

W: Ekko's W is basically a combination of Diana's W and E. Diana's W shields, while Diana's E slows. The only difference is that Ekko's W is easy to dodge and that Ekko's W can stun.

E: Ekko's E is equivalent to Diana's ult. Ekko first dashes to a target position, and then teleports to an enemy dealing extra magic damage. Diana's ult straight up dashes to an enemy, dealing magic damage. Ekko's E is essentially better than Dianas ult because if you include the dash from Ekko's E, the ranges are essentially the same with the abilities. Ekko's E is also better than Dianas ult because you can use it to dodge abilities, go through walls, etc. Dianas ult has a longer cooldown (if you dont q first at the enemy your dashing to) and you have to dash to a specific enemy target (unlike Ekko's E where you can dash to open space).

Ults: Thats it for Diana, she doesn't have any more abilities. Ekko however, still has one more extraordinary ability making him teleport, heal, and do AoE damage. His ult is very useful when getting burst down and not quite dead yet, regaining most of his health.

Again, I am not mad, and why would I be? I mean Rito basically buffed Diana and called her Ekko!

Not quite. Diana can hold out against early game bruisers, whereas Ekko gets destroyed by them.

If the you think the slow is where most of the power on Diana's E lies, you have some serious misunderstandings of her play patterns. That being said, they both have a somewhat similar overarching goal (break straight to the back and stick until the target is dead), but they deal with it in different ways. Diana tends to whittle away until she can make the kill with her rotation, while Ekko (so far as I've seen up til now) tries to move in and then disengage while the trade is still lopsided.
