Why the lore backlash? I for one think this is a great direction

I cant understand the backlash people are having.

Do you not realise the current format does not allow for good story telling? That some champion cannot have more than a paragraph of "Story" because of the intitude? Examples: Shaco Nocturne Brand Fiddlesticks Chogath Nautilus Malphite Skarner because they are confined inside the league? Its like trundle's old lore, it leads nowhere, its a dead end.

By removing the league, its now possibly to make lore that isnt limited/restricted around it (the Institude), and thus, much much deeper and complex.

Some character's cant even have a social life because of the intitude (Ezreal , what sense is there in Jinx joining the league when she wants to blow up piltover (which she wont have time to due to matches), How are Sejuani Lissandra Ashe meant to fight each other when they have to do matches all the time? These are just a few examples.

So, i ask you: You would all rather have crude crappy underdeveloped lore that leads nowhere than potentially awesome deep meanigfull one just because there arent any all powerfull summoners and an all powerfull organisation which centers all around it?

People don't like change.

Thing changes.

People butthurt.

Honestly, I think you can sum a lot of it by people just wanting to agree with people, so a few people that are upset turn into a bunch of people behind keyboards who feel like they are entitled when they aren't. It doesn't help that forums in general tend to be pretty heavy on the circle jerk side. Just part of it. I recommend ignoring them and move on.

I won't hate this decision so much if something substantial actually comes from it. Decoupling "League the Game" from "League the World" lets you tell more varied stories in more types of ways, but they'd damn well better blow my socks off to make it worth my current ire.

I never understood the love people were gving to "old" lore. That should have never happend. Well, yes, it is interesting experiment to "include" players in the game, though, at the end of the day champions cannot have real and diverse personalities if they all go along with "playing" with each other.

though I am no lore guy.

I think the main problem is that so much lore that was already done is simply being left behind. I fully understand the need to get rid of the Institute of War, but I do not understand the need to remove it from all lore completely.

Then there are "champions" like Scarner, Nasus, and Renekton who's original lore is simply gone with little to no warning. The old lore was not always underdeveloped and even new players have been able to attach themselves to those great stories. Scarner was once part of a proud and ancient race, and now is little more than a tomb guardian.

So now I ask you, how can you not understand the backlash Riot is receiving when they are taking away lore that was not always underdeveloped, and are giving little to no information on what they are replacing it with?
