The boards are a stupid echochamber

One thought gets said and gets no traction, then someone else comes up with the same opinion and BOOOM 5000 upvotes even if it's worse said. You can literally see an entire boards front page be nothing but complaining about one thing that isn't even busted that they forget about in 10 days from then, just because it was made popular.

When you ask? Happened with:

  • Lethality
  • Tank reworks/Tank meta
  • ADC changes in early season 6
  • Defense item changes
  • Ahri
  • Viegar
  • Ivern
  • Teleport changes
  • Kogmaw revert
  • Ryze re-re-rework
  • Karma rework
  • Aatrox rework (Suddenly everyone was an Aatrox main)
  • AD assassin changes
  • Mage rework
  • Galio rework

Literally all of those things have either stuck around or been fixed to where the community doesnt scream for pitchforks and torches.

Currently Ahri has been in the front page. Why? Because people claim she is OP. Why? Because her winrate. What about her winrate? That there are mainly only ahri mains playing her so her winrate is up there. Not because she is broken. If she was broken, why wasn't she broken last patch? What about the patch before that?

Same thing happened to Viegar. He was played one round in the LCS a few years ago. Then everyone had a problem with him. He has counters. Champions with blinks, QSS, MR is a huge counter. But no. The boards refused to recognize any of these and he got nerfed out of the meta.

And hey people whined about Rengar because only mains played him and did well. I'm still really salty that my champ got gutted so many times, reworked, and gutted some more just because some idiots cant buy armor or peel for their carries.

It's stupid that people expect the game to be balanced around who is weak. You can't buy armor against an all ad team? You're gonna lose. You can't just sit there and complain about "Oh Viegar is too strong. Nerf Him" when you counter picked yourself. It. Doesn't. Work.

Sometimes, the hate is justified. Like game breaking bugs/exploits (Xerath for example) but othertimes, you don't need to flood the entire boards about "This champion is broken because I said so" posts. Sometimes they're just complaining about QOL issues with a certain champion. Most of the time, these people only play against the champion and never play as the champion. You need both sides to get a good understanding of their weaknesses and strengths.

Please upvote this post so it doesn't get buried, as it is already being downvoted because some boards fangirls are around.

See. A legit guy.

When the rework came, I counted and called out 8 people that had never played a game of Aatrox since pre-season 5. They were all saying how the new Aatrox rework broke him. Yet the only game they played (if at all) was during URF before the rework.

I am gonna give you the benefit of the doubt; But please show me what you mean concerning the Karma rework. Which one do you mean and what is your evidence?

Benefit of the doubt? Of what?

Karma's main rework happened before the boards existed (2013) but people still talk about it on reddit and the boards to this day for seemingly unknown reasons.

Karma was just even a poor example. People complain about any kind of rework that changes any ability completely. I've hardly seen any major changes that don't cause uproar in the community making everyone suddenly main that champion.

Who has this happened with? All of those champions had atleast 3 people saying "I used to main <insert champion here> but now I don't because the new changes are trash" kind of argument.

And yes I used to love Rengar but he's trash now that they made him a clunky bruiser and gutted him a few times

That you are well meaning and know what you are talking about.

This ordeal is very ironic. Of course any change will make people angry who love the old things. Of course those will flock to the boards compared to the people who like it and see no reason to talk about it. Of course it will be the old mains who you never heard about before who will have the strongest reason to complain.

But they also tend to exeggurate and here you are exeggurating their existance and impact. I have spent about 1.5 years with the Karma community, but I have barely ever seen a thread exceeding the 50 upvotes mark (there only ONCE was a 280 upvotes thread and it was a huge exception).

Because it was a shitty rework. Because it missed the mark on so many levels. They didn't understand that people loved her fanweapons, they didn't understand her playstyle, they failed to communicate with the community, they failed to bring innovation to her while killing off unique concepts, the didn't nail down her role, but made her a washed up combination of recolored versions of already existing spells. They took away much but didn't replace it with anything that could make her fans get over it.

Yes, Karma is a "fine" champion. And no, old Karma wasn't perfekt. But the rework was really, really bad.

Tha's why people complain. Her old self has been erradicated and something comparable hasn't been implemented yet. People who love the game and loved Karma will never stop feeling this pain, that's why they keep complaining.

That must be true of at least 3 people though, following the rules of probability. And it IS a valid argument though. Not a good one, but valid.

I mean, if this was true for 80% of mains, there would be a huge problem. If it is true for 8% of mains, it would at least impact Riot in a way. If it is true for 0.8% of mains, it probably is neglectable in terms of game design, but still enough to fill the boards with complaints.
