How Riot Turned Me Back Into A Toxic Player.

So, 4 months back nearing the end of season 4 I got a 2 week suspension. This suspension really made me think on how to stop being toxic. After it was lifted I was winning more games, and having fun while doing it. Over the past 3 weeks for seemingly NO reason. Ill get chat restricted. then chat restricted again. then chat restricted again, and the most recent chat restriction was 55 games long. Now, I definately am not half as toxic as the players I encounter every game? how can i be getting these restrictions!?!?! Basically I get 1 report. (thing pops up like "you had a negative attitude bitch blah blah blah") and then after a few more games i logged out. logged back in im chat restricted, ranked restricted, and it all seemingly came from 1 report. I just AFKD the THIRD game of the day, ive been EXTREMELY toxic and just. ANGRY for the past few days. And I realized something, it all stemmed from these restrictions. I got a 55 game chat restriction AND A RANKED GAME RESTRICTION IN WHICH I HAVE TO WIN, thats right. WIN 11 MOTHERFUCKING NORMAL DRAFT, thats right "DRAFT" MODE GAMES TO GET BACK INTO RANKED AGAIN. Riot has forced me into this corner and all the anger and frustration and negativity is coarsing through me. and i cant stand people i'll flame at the sight of someone making the slightest hint of a mistake and this all started a few days ago when i got the restrictions. I was once a proud non-toxic (but everyone has bad games) member of the community that tried his best to not flame. Now? im a toxic piece of shit who afks 1 in 3 games and throws his headset on the group everytime he dies. Thanks riot, thanks a lot.

To be honest, it doesn't sound like you are above average at all. Have you ever heard that statistic that something like 90% of people think they're above average?

That part where you say "but everyone has bad games?" Yeah, not everyone does. I don't flame people. Ever. I have never been chat restricted, or banned, or anything, and there's a reason for that. People who have good records with this stuff are the people who don't have bad games. They are the people who put courtesy and sportsmanship first. It sounds like you don't do that.

Even the text in this very post seems to be pointing fingers and raging because none of this is your fault... Sorry, but I'm not buying it. You have a ways to go before you are above average; Riot's system is trying to open your eyes to that.

Please ask Riot to publicly show the logs from games you got chat restricted over. I haven't seen a Lyte smite in a week or two.

Warning: I'm new so this might not be the most informed comment. The people that get in trouble a lot get blamed for things more often then those with clean records. We can use the class trouble maker in this example. If some kid is known to be doing bad things the teacher will often blame them or question them more closely in the occurrence of a bad instance at school than that of the kids with the pristine record. So by you already having a record of being toxic riot is not giving you the benefit of the doubt and instead just seeing a couple of reports and hitting you with punishments. Given that you have a record its just like the legal system. If a man steals one car and gets busted his punishment is less severe, but if another man has been to jail for stealing cars and steals another his punishment will be more severe.

The same may be true here. So by being increasingly more toxic you may be exacerbating your own problem. If you're really having that much trouble and you want to be able to play ranked and not have chat restrictions stop flaming and realize that you have a record and are already on thin ice. This means any slight problem with you or report will cause you to break this fragile foundation you're on. Whereas a person with a cleaner record would probably only get a warning. You already have that criminal record.

Pretty sure this is a "you" issue, not a Riot issue.

The basic point of this is that they turned a above-neutral player into a toxic player by allowing 1 to 2 reports to dictate whether or not i can talk for the next 50 games. and also the "winning" of the SPECIFIC normal "draft" gamemode is just horrendous, i cant even play fucking teambuilder :/

A. While most of us understand the debilitating anger or anguish caused by the crushed morale from a lost competition (any competition, not just League).. If something is affecting your mood so long outside of partcipating in it, then you should probably find an alternative activity. B. It's understandable that the habit of using chat to express yourself being hindered is causing you anger when you've used up your restricted messages, the solution to that is to lose that habit and form a new one of never using your chat button even when it's appropriate.

I know neither of those are the answers you wanted to hear, but if you're not willing to accept the fact that no system is perfect, and there will always be problems, inconsistencies, or aspects that haven't been perfected yet, and it's affecting your life.. or hell, even just your games.. that drastically, then you need to take a long break. Losing competitions can be horribly disappointing for the highly competitive players, and there's not much you can do to prevent that from happening, but toxic behavior is 100% preventable personally for the average person (and in several ways). You're in control of your actions. You can choose to not do something no matter how badly you want to. The only thing enticing you to do it is if the consequences are worth it, which they clearly aren't to you.

Blaming Riot for your toxic behavior is like blaming Toyota that you drove drunk and slammed into a tree. It's obviously Toyota's fault for giving you a "faulty" product that can't handle a head-on collision with an oak.

Or, like, how parents blame certain video game companies for exposing their children to mature content, instead of actually being a parent and refusing to buy games with an M+ rating.

If you'd like further advice on mitigating your toxic behavior, I'm willing to offer some. But I know what you want. You want to be able to be as horrible and toxic as you like without negative consequences and that is not going to happen, and the alternative of not flaming when someone irritates you probably feels stupid to you. If you're not willing to prevent yourself from exposing your rage in-game, then I can't help you (Riot either).

They need to either redo the entire system, or just go away with it. it's obviously not working, and no incentive is keeping people from being toxic, especially in the bronze level, which riot needs to focus on because that's the level that most of this takes place in..
