Upgrading the Intentional Feeder Detection System

Hey all,

(Neurocat’s out for a week, so I’m dropping in to give an Instant Feedback update)

A few weeks back we launched intentional feeding detection, a long-desired addition to Instant Feedback that hands out 14-day or permanent bans to intentional feeders. Initially, we tuned the detection to be very conservative because we wanted to be absolutely sure Instant Feedback could distinguish bad games from genuine intentional feeding. Now that the system’s crunched through a few million games of data, we feel confident turning intentional feeding detection up a notch.

Like with all adjustments to Instant Feedback, the team will hand review the first few thousand cases to make sure everything’s working the way it’s meant to. This upgrade’s already live in NA, and will roll out worldwide before the end of the year. In fact, the system’s already made its first ban. The /allchat log reads:

Oh Hecarim. We care a lot. We’ll update this post when the feature’s gone global.

EDIT ::: We are now rolling the system out in EUW.

A few weeks ago I had to step away for a fire alarm in my building (turned out to be a false alarm). I was gone for less than 3 minutes, and I went back to base. In this time, one player on our team decided to AFK in fountain and say he hopes I die and my house burns down (as well as some homophobic slur).

He was reported by no fewer than 3 people that game, yet he is still playing at this time.

I thought this type of thing was supposed to be taken care of? I shouldn't have to report someone for that, but we did and he is still playing and ruining games. What in the world can I do to make sure these people don't continue to destroy the community?

ive noticed that nowadays, the community has replaced the word "dying" with "feeding". Was playing a game the other day and I was 2/3/2 as Alistar support, and my midlaner told me to stop feeding......PLEASE community. Understand that even if someone is 1/14 does NOT mean they intentionally fed. Maybe you should get off of your wolves stacking that devourer, or roam as fizz and help your team. G'day.

I really want to see a live-action production of this. Possibly involving a chortling rager smacking the enter key, only to fall silent as Lyte steps up from behind and delivers that chill-voiced "reassurance".

So far everyone who has said that after i have informed them i was reporting them, has been punished almost immediately... like i got the message and everything... So im just going to go out on a limb here and say: Yes... yes Riot will care, now enjoy being banned. [slayer-jinx-wink]

Does it detect feeding your teamates to the enemy team? (Had a match where once we started to lose Tahm threw us at the enemy team)

I had a feeder in my game that was feeding maliciously because he didn't get the lane he wanted. Problem was, he didn't call the lane until LITERALLY the last four seconds before the match was starting, so everyone had already locked in and made their plays. He proceeded to feed my lane, and ended the match at 0 / 15 / 4.

Myself and a few others reported him, enemy and ally team alike, but I never got the notification that he was punished. Went on to check, and he's played over 35 matches (I counted) since, four days later. Does it only count a string of feeding? Because he literally ruined the entire match for us, and I got demoted thanks to his ensuring our loss out of malicious spite. It'll suck if you can get away with murder one time.

Thank god. I just got out of a game where the enemy leona didn't get a gank so she fed mid for 30 MINUTES. Seriously, just afk at that point.

Anyway, at the end room chat she said "I wont get banned, I've fed the last 60 games I've played". Probably not true, but still we don't need this scum.

Finally, yes finally, now i can play in peace, also, what about trollers, who play like orianna jungle, is there a system for that? LIke the may not feed intentionally, but, they just feed because it doesnt work. will there be a system to catch people like this?

How long till we get this on oce.

Because as someone who has fed on purpose on multiple occasions (we all get that fuckwit that lights the fuse) can honestly say having actual consequences that actually stick and actually go through would deter myself and most likely any troll from doing it.

ultimately i cant wait till the ban system is so consistent that people get banned on their second or third offence and the troll population falls to ungodly low levels instead of being about 80% of the community (or what feels like it)

Then all wed have to worry about is having low skill teammates, which frankly ive come to grips with, cant win em all right.
