I miss the old Taric :( I really lost my favorite Champion in this game the day he was reworked

A little bit of music to go with it

From time to time I still look at him and remember what he was and where he is now.

My shining Paladin, the first Champion I ever played and the first I reached Mastery 5 on... now he is a walking Ultimate...

Taric was by no means perfect, and the Visual Update is AWESOME, but honestly... I barely touched him since the rework. I just dont like Champions who are literally only picked because the Ultimate is broken and thats it...

What I miss most about him is being that armor shredder, that empowered your whole team. Old Taric? When you stuned the enemy target, you went in, you smashed your W and crushed their armor to bits, the you pressed R and you became that shining beacon of power, that made all of your allied more powerful... And if you ever had Problems, you had a very nice heal on your kit, that could either heal you and a teammate fro a good amount or yourself for an awesome amount...

Sure, his stun was singel target, sure he was not exiting to watch, but hell, he was the Paladin I loved to Main.

And yeah, I know "Taric" is here to stay, nothing will change that. But he just doesnt feel like Taric any more. Not one bit. They kept nothing of him alive when they reworked him, everything was changed. His whole core aspect was changed.

Here is to you old Pal, rest in peace. The Guy who kiled you on Mount Targon and came back taking your name will never be able to replace you in my heart, no matter how handsome he is...

Whoa whoa whoa, hold the phone.

When you stuned the enemy target, you went in, you smashed your W and crushed their armor to bits, the you pressed R and you became that shining beacon of power, that made all of your allied more powerful...

Don't be silly, the proper method was stun > Ult > W. Better to get that AD/AP boost as soon as possible. I will assume you were weaving auto attacks in and not completely triggering me!

Ahem. Sorry about the outburst. Anyways I honestly miss him to, these days I refer to myself as a Taric enthusiast rather than a Taric main. I still play him fairly frequently and I love the champion but he isn't something I can just play game after game like I used to.

RIP old Taric, 4 of my macros will continue to be reserved for you.

I completely know how you feel.

Old Fiora was my pride and joy. The first 6300 champ I bought, the first champ I owned every skin for, the first champ I got mastery 5 with and the only champ that I considered my main. I didn't care that she was a "no skill/noob champ" bc she's what I found fun. The day her rework hit the PBE was the day I knew I only had 2 more weeks with this champ I came to love. I did, however, give it a chance, but the champ I could play hours on end and not get tired was no longer there. To me, this new Fiora is a completely different person. She may have the same name, same title (and even that they wanted to change at one point..) sound the same, may even look the same (debatable) but she **isn't **the same. Not to me, at least.

Granted she did need changes, but this new kit will never appeal to me the way her old one did. Just one more time, I would love to play her as I knew her.

I actually started to main old Taric right before they announced they were going through with his rework, so I can appreciate what there was in his old empowerment-style kit a little more than people who didn't experience it, but probably not as much as someone like you who seemed very devoted to him.

Albeit I think Riot was right to update the extremely simple "point and click" style of play to match their evolving game, I miss the old Taric and his silly pizza-feet. The new R is underwhelming to say the least, and although I still play Taric a decent amount, especially into enemy teams filled with engage champions, I feel like that's the only environment when he really, hahah, shines.

His ult kit was rather basic though.. I very much prefer him how he is now, visually, kit wise, Everything. he isn't popular, but he is in a good spot all around. He also kept the mood of his original kit, big time. I think he's one of the more satisfying reworks to exist today. What did the original Taric have that the new one dosnt, aside from pizza feet?

Edit- A little more on that. 'Taric lost his power' What power? he's a support/tank, he dosnt need it. Any power he lost was likely for good reason. Plus, even his kit now is viable solo lane (I play him majorly top myself) He has a CC, heal, shield, what does he have now that he didn't before? I'm the exact opposite of the situation. I've never loved a rework more, next to the latest Ryze one. He kept most characteristics to his original character, along with an improved appearance, an actual character, more lines, and much more. Don't see a reason how it could be considered a bad one...

Edit2- "I barely touched him since the rework." Play him again some more, then see what ya think. My main got a minor rework a while back, and it terrified me. Played them, and it just wasn't the same. Then I decided to give it a second try, and realized I overreacted, big time. Sometimes ya just gotta take the time to get used to it. It's a change alright, but you don't know if it's a positive or a negative one until ya take a chance.

Disagree. I played Taric before the rework too. And he is now better than ever.

He is not a stand still and give everyone stats boring ass character anymore. Now he is a REAL champion. A champion that can save and protect the entire teams, and especially their adc.

Taric is picked for more than his ultimate and all of his old skills were shite. They are better now and they are focused on the AOE aspect of them. Yes, the new heal will be shitier if you heal only 2 targets, but if you heal 3, that is amazing already. Same with the ultimate.

He feels more like taric than the old taric. Like i said before, old taric was simply a walking stat stick, now he is an actual champion instead of "Press r to give allies more damage, stand near them with w for more armor".

Take your rose tinted glasses off, thanks.

i feel the same way, this VGU was a tragedy, both in character and in kit

he's so much less charming now

RizHippoKhan6/18/2017, 8:02:43 PM2 votes

i only want his ult to turn him into a juggernaut (or atleast gave a huge combat buff to taric) kinda like the summoners showdown II animation ;-;

I feel really bad for you and other mains of reworked champions. After the Galio rework, I truly realized how damaging these changes can be to some members of the community. It scares me of the day Riot comes after one of my favorite champions like Teemo and just completely terrorizes his kit. The reworks lately have failed to maintain the fun in a champion's kit, one of the most important aspects that keeps a player coming back to the champion over and over again. I honestly hope that Riot takes a chill pill with how many reworks they've been throwing at us lately and focuses on other parts of the game like new champions and events that add fun to the game without hurting a portion of the playerbase.

Honestly, if they swapped his ult for something more satisfying I'd be 100% pleased with his rework. I was actually pretty impressed with how they preserved the mix of the corny fabulous bloke that most people like and a more serious character that some like me prefer, and I prefer the smoother new variant on his passive. His ult is what ruins him. It CAN be powerful yes, but 90% of the time it can't be exploited to its full potential and it leaves you feeling absolutely terrible.

Ults are meant to be the big wow moment, and with his it usually ends up being completely wasted with either the fight ending before it can be used or the person you're trying to protect dying before it activates. I've genuinely had 20 minute games where I've never actually ulted. I want his old ult back please, maybe a mega variant of Sona's Q or something to make it more visible.

Gems, gems are truly truly outrageous

I didn't used to think so but this was one of the few reworks that riot did really well with.

I'm okay with new Taric. Might be the safest pick possible as a support for me at the moment. Latest round or 2 of itemization changes haven't affected him negatively.

I have to admit though, it took me a lot longer to get used to new Taric compared to the new Rammus.

I started to main Taric 3 months or so before the rework. He was the most fun I've had in top lane at the time. No words can describe my joy when I managed to win a duel against so many early engage top laners. I would give so much to have that back again!

if you dislike the new taric then there is one thing i got to tell you about him w someone with mobility or a gap closer and when they get in the enemy's face e from them
