Well, Riot really got me for April Fool's Day
So I joined League around late April last year. Yeah, I know, I'm pretty new. But do you know what that means? I have never played URF. I got to experience the hellhole that was Black Market Brawlers, I got to have some decent fun in OFA and TT Hexakill, but I have never played URF. So for a long, long time, I've been waiting for this day. April Fool's Day, URF Day. I know there are a lot of people that hate the mode, but it doesn't mean that I don't want to play it. So when Riot said that they wouldn't bring it back this year (at least, not yet), I was a bit worried, but I was decently optimistic that it was a prank. Then today happened. I look on the Boards, I see the client, and there actually is no URF. That wasn't exactly a great feeling.
So, a bit annoyed, I queue up for an ARAM match. My team consists of things like Kog, Rammus, and Zilean. Basically, the things that really show how badly the Draven heads look. Most of the time, you could only really see the top of it on my (Kog'maw) character, since the bottom was blocked by Kog's awkward model. It honestly mostly bothered me, since my enemy was really hard to see (they had 3-4 humanoids with equal HP), and I had a hard time with target selection. So that fell pretty flat for me.
Then I look at the shop. I heard there were some bundles, so I went into the shop and quickly clicked over. But, in the corner of my eye, before it swaps over, I see a sale on Draven Draven. "Here we are," I think, "there's something I can get out of this!" So I head over to the skins and see... it's 500 RP. On sale for 90%. Wait, what? It costs 5000 RP normally? Okay, so I've done some digging in the past, and learned that Urf Warwick was made back in 2010, and costed 5000 RP usually. However, for a full week after release, it costed 50 RP. 99% off. Personally, I'll gladly drop 50 RP on something that I may or may not use. But for Draven Draven, an honestly crappy skin for a champion that I don't often play and already own a better skin for (will be explained later), I'm not gonna pay 500 of my last bits of RP. Right now, I can get Blood Moon Kalista or Pentakill Olaf for that amount, at a 50% sale. Having a far inferior skin cost that much, even if it is a joke, is just a little upsetting.
So then, as I'm looking at surrender@20 trying to figure out of the 5k RP price is a joke, I find out that there's another one of those snowballs for Legendary and Ultimate skins. I figure that it's probably my last chance to get something out of Draven Day. I regularly ask for Christmas and Birthday gifts to be paid in RP gift cards, so I regularly have some RP in store. I tried this back during winter, and, for Primetime Draven and Suprise Party Fiddles, I got Little Knight Amumu and Uncle Ryze. So I've never had the best luck with this. Still, I thought that I had to try. I had about 2k RP left in my reserves from a chunk I got from my February birthday, so I bought Super Galaxy Rumble, one that I've wanted for a while. And do you know what I got? Do you know what this day decided to culminate in?
So yes, Riot did fool me today. Good night, everyone.
