How We Can Improve Solo Q Climbing
http://imgur.com/nVVPeTy.jpg http://imgur.com/r5Iezr6.jpg Solo queue is not really an accurate representation of a player's skill. Koreans and Chinese understand this, as many players in LPL and LCK are in Platinum or Diamond, unlike NA and EU being strictly Challenger. However, this is merely my claim and is highly arguable. A common argument being, "If you're good enough, you'll climb. How do you think challengers go from Bronze 5 to Challenger without losing a game until Platinum." This is true, however I'm not claiming that I am, or anyone below challenger is at, a challenger skill level. I am stating that most players deserve a higher or lower tier than they're actually in. It doesn't matter how well you perform, if your team is incompetent, you won't win. Before you quit reading, I will address some counterarguments later, but let's address the competence factor first. http://i.imgur.com/ylI4uKv.jpg Occasionally you'll get a series of competent or at least decent teams which are very carriable. When a team is competent, you're able to finish your lane quickly and sacrifice cs to help the rest of the team. When your team is incompetent and goes 0/3 or something before you're even able to finish your lane, that lane ends up roaming before you're able to roam, shuts down the rest of the team, and gets fed.
So, where am I going with all of this? Well, really that was just my anecdote on how unfair solo queue is. It's not a real representation on how good you are as a player. So how can we fix this? Change the factor on how LP is earned. Instead of gaining and losing LP just on MMR, you should also gain and lose LP based on how well you perform. If you go 20-0-17 with 11cs per minute and win, you should gain a high amount of LP. If you go 20-0-17 with 11 cs per minute and lose, you should lose a low amount of LP. Also factor in MMR because if you go 20-0-17 and your MMR is lower than your division, it isn't impressive, it's expected. And if you go 20-0-17 with your MMR being higher than your division, that's extremely impressive and should also increase how much LP you gain.
I know I said I'd address counterarguments, but I really can't think of a reason we shouldn't implement LP gains and losses based on performance and MMR instead of just MMR. So, if you have an argument, post it in the comments and I'll address it the best I can. Let me know what you guys think :D!
